i'm surprised that u've left most of the artillery non-neutral, when i'd have expected that these would have been the most strategic spots.

aircraft are fully-random deployment, without start positions, right? that's the assumption i made when assessing the number of deployable regions.

ian. :)

Ah, i left the artillery deployable in most cases as these would have been avaialble at the start of the battle, as would the planes.

What do you siggest then?

except for goemark which, as mentioned before, looks fine, increase the bonuses for the medium-sized zones by +1 (to +7 for gorodische and to +5 for russian 64th), the larger zones by +2 (to +9 for panzer and +7 for russian 62nd) and the all city bonus to +17 (which will be exactly twice the second-largest bonus when u include city a & b, though i see very few circumstances in which someone can actually make use of this bonus - trying to gain and hold all city could well prove to be suicidal, as it was for the germans).

cairnswk wrote:Ah, i left the artillery deployable in most cases as these would have been avaialble at the start of the battle, as would the planes.

i thought that the artillery would be crucial at the start of fog games but, given that the planes, which are reasonably numerous, can also see quite a lot (including the artillery), i'm happy to trust ur judgement here.

cairnswk wrote:16 neutrals are added, strategically.

if the 16 neutral-starting regions each have 2 neutrals instead of 3, then they'll be less disruptive to the flow of the game. i notice that u've used single neutrals for the snipers, which will ensure that they come into play early on.

Done, refresh the maps above to see changes. :)

Thanks for your input albeit very late....
There is no room for sewer fighting; i'll think about Paulus to replace one of the German HQs; the island is not worth anything as it is part of Chulkov; Sniper are in the corners, please read the instructions :)

hey SORRY for the late post and this even later post, but i jus saw this thread wen i made my first post , and got held up on posting this current post , but i have VITAL information if you wish to make this a REAL feal of the most important and infamous battle of ww2. As you may know ther was also italiian , romanian , hungarian , and croation divisions that fought alongside nazi forces in stalingrad, but thers no time for all of them and its better just german vs russian anways.first off i like how you have some soviet commanders in ther but no germans?? you have german hqs in which they should be german generals , becuz truly and really thats wat they are!!!! i IMPLORE you to change the german hqs to german generals, of which there are only 3, general Friedrich PaulusĀ (P.O.W), who was promoted to field marshall by hitler the day he was captured by soviet forces so he would commit suicide as ther were no german fm ever taken prisoner before,so nv that fact cuz this map is more like the start of it.

2nd was Erich von Manstein, and third was Wolfram von Richthofen. of these 3 i suggest you change the hqs to Paulus and Manstein, the reason i say this is becuz Richthofen was leading the new 6th army aftee the first was destroyed, the german 6th army being the only army that was encircled and destroyed twice in 1 war!! on this note why is the german 6th army not mentioned on the map?? i dont no if the divions you have up ther were part of it, if they were then i guess its ok, but if not i IMPLORE you to put the 6th army up ther as they were the only german forces who did battle in and surrendered stalingrad! i realize its your map and you can do whatever you want , but wat i have suggested are only minor name changes and are very crucial and accurate if u ask me or any ww2 fan! i can see theres been a lot of painstaking work on layout and bonuses and all so thats all great by me, but in my SINCERE opinion please act on what ive said. if you hav any comments or questions 2 me msg me and great job boyz!

also i find it retarted that people say u cant have the nazi emble up ther. this was a war of countries, countrys have flags, and for this period of time there official country flag was the nazi insignia not the iron cross. look at any history book , movie , watever, its ther becuz thats what it was , you cant change history, and like the whole idea of not havinh it up there opposite the soviet flag is ridiculous.. soviet uniun has a different flag but thers no prob puytting thd old 1 up, thats stalins flag who was as bad as hitler every1 knows that, exept stalin killed every1 instead of just jews lol a true socialist. anyways i think its ridiculous the nazi emblem should be up ther with the soviets . the soviets werent fighting iron crosses.. they were fighting nazis.

Paulus and Manstein are now included in the HQs.

I also agree that the nazi insignia should be allowed, not doing so is kinda "re-colouring" history and pretending bad things never happened.

But on the other hand, we have to remember that a large portion of the customers of this site are Americans, where political correctness runs rampant, so lack will probably want to avoid offending these overly sensitive people, fearing that parents will forbid their children to play on a site that features nazi insignia... so I kinda understand the reasons for forbidding the nazi flag.

In version 30 above, i've updated the tree colours where required...some were missing.
I don't know if there's a lot more that i want to do with this graphically....anyone?

Ok... firstly, overall the graphics of this map look great. It's a beautiful map.

Then.... one thing that's been bothering me. The crouching soldiers next to the title look kinda funny. Their arms seem too short... thalidomide wasn't invented until the 50's, so it really doesn't fit a WWII map :D

Also, the german flag symbols seem a bit pixelated.

Also, some of the soldier icons on the map seem to be missing their drop shadow.

These are all very small issues though, and overall the map looks great like I said.

OK i'll look into that...

That's because the cross has an outline outside of the cross making it look pixelated

I'll check.

This should look better now.... :)

i've re-done the white circle and cross and outline...should look better :)

All checked and have their shadows now :)

yep ;)

the soldiers also look much better.

Just one small thing... your tanks kinda look like flying saucers... or bowler hats. I think adding some dots or small circles for the tires would improve them a lot.

natty....i don't think dots/circles would improve them...in fact in may make them look worse because on the small map they are so small anyways...i'd prefer not to go there...thanks anyways. ;)

Well, it's only a minor detail so don't sweat it.

One more thing. I've been thinking if perhaps adding some grunge to the territories would look better... I'm not sure though, the current look is clean and legible, but on the other hand some grunge might help creating a mood of a city under battle. Then again, the impassables and such already do a fair job at this... :-k

Well, your map, your choice. I'm just thinking out loud here...
