Hummm... I see what you mean. The orange from Warsaw should touch the yellow from Kracow... that could make sense. I'll try that. :)

Hmm. Now that we are in graphics shop... Would you mind doing the small version? I have some concerns, not sure if everything will fit on the small map...

Also, the elliptical army ellipses... I'm having mixed feelings about those. I'm not really sure if I like them... on one hand, they look kinda neat... but on the other, I'm not sure how well they fit the map, they kinda seem a novelty for novelty's sake... you know, you have lots of white land area on this map, you might even pull it off with no army circles... It might even improve the clarity of the map.

Can't think of anything else to criticize... I've always thought this map looks awesome. Keep up the good work!

I prefer #1. #2 looks like a DMZ.

You might try a very slight white border, like between Hessen and Saxony.

Thanks Rask!!

Truth is, we've been debating the graphical aspects of this map since the very beginning of it. I'm very happy with what we have at the moment :P

have you ever made a try a drop with 8 colours armies all over the small map
just to see if one can find all his troops

here it is, in the worst scenario: small map, 888

we don't have the xml, so all placed by hand - just in the more critical areas. Seems good to me!

In keeping with guidelines being used on other maps, the objective wording should likely change from "Own 5 Capitals" to "Hold 5 Capitals for one round".

And if you don't have the XML yet, do you need an XML scribe? I could try whipping something up via chipv's Map XML Wizard. It is quite powerful and I think I could crank a very solid version out in very short order.

Thank you Ender... Actually I'm still counting on Andrew for the XML. Not sure if he will still want (or find the time) to do it.

Hello All,

As Kab said, we've been working on graphics for this map from the very beginning - which explains why the first version we put up was #21 and why we're on #30 now. Consensus seems to be that this is a nice map which people want to play on. Due to Kab's (pun fully intended!) Napoleonic efforts, the small map version is ready and, apparently, playable.

Therefore, we invite all those who have suggestions or constructive criticism to voice them now, so we can address them as soon as possible. We'd really love to move on to the next stage so we can get working on the XML. So Evil, if you could set a time-line, say one week, during which contributors could voice their suggestions, after which we could go to the next stage, that would be great!!

Thanks,

Rask

Whoa, take it easy... you just came to the graphics shop. Enjoy the scenery here :D

Anyway, I really need to get some sleep, but I'll look at the map closely tomorrow to see if I notice anything.

Something needs to be done about the Confederation of the Rhine on the small map, it is way to unreadable. Perhaps an acronym with explanation? I can read Naples and Sardinia, but I think it might be cause I already know what they are. This is precisely why i play the large maps.

And the large map for this is beautiful.

Helix,

You will note we changed it to Rhine on the large map and we will of course do the same on the small one. Thanks for noticing.

Natty,

I think the philosopy isn't "doing time" in each zone, but improving the product. If everyone is happy with it, no need to spend 3 months in each zone. Remember, we posted our 21st draft in September and have been improving it ever since. But of course, if anyone has comments, they are more than welcome. Kab and I are pretty happy with what we have so far though and unless you all have suggestions, there is no reason to let the map languish for months when it seems lots of people are anxious to see it in Beta.
