Because that of course, is abuse.

Well this perspective does not hold water.

The multi had wins after his last game with him and some wins sprinkled amongst his games.

netham just didn't beat him.

Great thread JR..a fantastic read. Is he guilty though? No. Should they change the rules? Well, maybe. But I like the idea of a General scooping up his points on Waterloo against noobs (and it must be funny as hell to read those "Where am I? Who are you? What the f*ck???" comments game after game. Some of the quotes from the games certainly made me laugh) but then keeping in contact with his 'victims' and actually making the effort to teach them a bit. I'm sure most players who are known to be very competent at a certain style get requests for teaching every once in a while. But do we make the effort to check the games in question, write the pm's and really think about the answers? In my case not so much. Yet two new players here have stated quite catagorically that David has indeed made the effort and if so then he should be commended. As one said (decent writer btw) "It was worth losing 5 points to make 100." Quite right.

I remember playing Fruitcake for my first ever 1vs1 and of course he beat me. Yet I LEARNED more from that one game then I can actually express...how to play 1vs1, how to play dubs and trips, how to play the short game..it all became clear to me from that game and the questions Fruitcake happily anwered for me in great detail.

So if he genuinely IS teaching after the game then I say well done to him. He isn't breaking the rules as they stand and if this thread has done anything it has highlighted an unusual altruristic streak in a farmer, if a currently legal one. I can but think that whatever farming clan he belongs to will be considering giving him the boot for letting the side down...ruining their 'evil' image and all that.

I have had many players contact me after a game asking questions in how something was done. I answer them all in detail for them. I dint need to set up a private game and invite a player that just completed 5 games ( so they are no longer considered a new recruit ) and invite them to a game with very extreme difficult map and game options and wait until the game is over to tell them I will help you with your game play. HUNDREDS OF TIME. I sometimes research a post on the forum for them if I felt I dint answer their question fully and send them the link. Not all questions I get are game related. You have the The Society of the Cooks section on the forum which David is no part of. Why doesnt he post there in support of new players if he is truely concerned with new players ?

David hasnt answered 1 question yet about his abuse. The only response he gives you is that he is breaking no rules.

1) why does he wait until the game is over and he mopped up some easy points to offer help
2) why does he give no suggestions during the game
3) why does he invite players to difficult maps/options that new players never played before
4) why does he play players as soon as they come off of new recruit status
5) why does he refuse a rematch when a player wants to play a neutral map
6) why does he only play private games against players that barley know how to join a game
7) why has he not made 1 post in the The Society of the Cooks forum to help a player that he swears is all he does

all david has so far is a player, a multi may I add, that he has suckered 19 times into some points and is some kid that cant defend for himself and has no idea what he got himself involved with. But yet we have game after game of players complaining in game chat on how he tricked them into joining his little private game abuse and which he responds "well you should have checked the game first before joining".

they should have checked....there is that little button "view game" for a reason

david learned to play off peoples ego...these players as soon as the see a "Private" invite are all pufffed up...thoughts of "someone wants to play with me cause i must be good" rush through their little brains...and then then pay for their stupidity...

quick note:

I think if you read Changsta, Thornheart and FranlyMyDear's comments you will see great examples of reasonable understanding -- as opposed to blatant despisement/intolerance of another's style, etc. Again, too many people expect everyone else to think, act. . .and play as they do. They are short sighted and have no imagination. I bet their ancestors didn't like the first dunkers of basketball or spiked volleyballs.

Not every player here knows of or is interested in or has time for all the Society's, clans, newsletters, forums (shit, I don't even know about threads about me until someone tells me). These HATERS do a LOT of assuming and taking things out of context.

What's next? Gas chambers and Halocaust? What ABSOLUTELY amazes me is that CC Admin makes decisions without contacting people, getting them in a Live Chat PM and DISCUSSING things. hmmmmm

It's more like you're getting a little kid or someone with down syndrome to play basketball or volleyball against you, using unfamiliar house rules, then mercilessly dunking and spiking on them. And then tallying those "wins" up and comparing yourself to real basketball/volleyball players.

"Style" is how you play a game, not who you trick into playing with you, and which rules or settings you deliberately confuse them with. Setting up a game isn't "style" in terms of gameplay, it's just what settings and opponents you like to play with. The fact that you're comparing yourself to the first people to start slam dunking and spiking is so arrogant and audacious, and then comparing C&A to Nazi's is going way too far.

These HATERS do a LOT of assuming and taking things out of context.

I think what he is trying to explain is he is assuming that hundreds of players actually checked the link out to his private games before joining. Well we all know thats not true when almost every game starts off with a complaint in game chat of not understanding the map and game settings he tricked them into playing. A map and game options no new player is going to understand. Especially when alot of them only played 4-5 games prior to his invite and dont even understand the PM that was sent to them or is an 11 old multi/kid.

you think after 1 time, hey maybe there is a problem with all the players joining the games complaining about the same thing? But hundreds ? And than claim we are trying to help these players but give no suggestions in game chat ( unless it is to kill of their armies so he can win faster ) but wait until the game is over to offer help which nobody has seen any proof of ?

Nothing adds up. Well, theres the same security blanket response we keep hearing over and over. Since its not new recruits its ok. How nice that we wait until they complete 5 games to get around the rules.

I'm not asking this to be snarky JR24, I'm curious about your thought process:

What rules would you put together? What measuring stick would you make that could be used by the mods and others to measure whether an (supposed) infraction was made of this type?

Was the driver of the train trained on traffic signals? Does he understand all the SOP's on how to operate the train ? Did he pass a vision test before he was hired ? Is he red/green colored blind ? Or are we assuming everything was alright ?

Were the new players trained on how to read a PM before they joined. I would say no if hundreds are complaining in game chat.

I had an employee last week tell me he dint know how to read a tape measure and another did not know how to create a capitol letter on the keyboard. I guess we assumed everyone knows everything.

The fact that some of his "victims" praise him, means he must be doing something right. Teaching people is time consuming, and the fact that he gives people pointers is great. I know when I was first starting I learnt a lot more by playing higher ranks. Which if Johnny gets his way people won't be able to :(

im still waiting for that 1st piece of proof that there is any help even given. I see not 1 post on the Cook forum offering any help of any kind and nothing in game chat but a few lines stating " I will answer any questions you might have after the game is over", which translated means, give me your points first and ill describe how I got them from you once I have them.

The fact that some of his "victims" praise him

so out of a couple hundred he happened to get 2 players post here in his defense. One is a multi and the other has not returned to play him in another game again. I wonder why that is ? Probably because he doesnt want to play waterloo/freestyle and just donate more of his points to Davids scheme ? Not even 1% is thrilled of the tactics he used vs them.

for starters, I would not make "accept" the first option to chose from. New players dont understand what they are seeing and are clicking on the first option which is playing into Davids trap.

What's wrong with that? I would think that is surely all we can expect from even the most generous of us. Is he expected to write out a full 'how to beat me' pm before the game has started? No. Beat the chap solidly and then explain how you did it...then the chap can go off and try it out on someone else.

Fair enough, but in essence this is all due to a coding issue? If they changed the format of the invite PM would this issue be dropped?

Sounds like this thread should be in Sugs and bugs...

You know what I did after this? I saw him later in chat, I pm'd him an apology for being an ass in game chat, and admitted that it was MY OWN FAULT FOR PLAYING A GENERAL AT WATERLOO WITHOUT READING THE MAP. David and I are friends now. He has given me advice on many instances and I cannot think of a better way to lose 5 points. In the 3 days that followed he had taught me enough to launch my playing into the future. I am an eager learner with an excellent aptitude; that 5 points bought me 100 more. And it is still buying me more.

Here is my point, the people who WANT to play David over and over will, and there should be no restriction on them doing so. The people like me, who have had enough after the first time, will not play again. Although from time to time I joke with him about possibly doing a Waterloo FS...

Your accusation is clearly aimed at David, you are not trying to protect *netham*, you are not trying to help me, you are trying to hurt David and the only reason you are doing it is because you will naturally gain from it. Your accusation is SHITE, at best, it is selfish, conceded, self centered, and ignorant.

Ignorant: adj. Not knowing or having very little knowledge of.

Well Frankly, if this was some attempt to stick up for David's methods, it has the opposite effect, and is one of the points of the OP.

This apparently was not a great gaming experience for you. Many others have said the same.

If you consider "being conned," as you put it, a good experience, then good for you sir, but I doubt you can speak for the majority.

I see the "hundreds" of points you've since gained from this experience is actually fabrication.
You have played just 6 freestyle games with a creditable 3 wins. I've included the one with*nethan* though i'm not sure it should count.
You've never played Waterloo again.
As you say the accusation in the OP is aimed at David. That's why his name appears in the title.
For the very reasons you've outlined and are apparent from the gamechat, where you think you've been conned.

This is gross abuse of the system which is against the rules. A score-reset is appropriate.

JohnnyRocket24 and his Purist associates,

Guys, I'm going to do you a favor and share with you a job posting that you might be interested in. Apparently your current occupations do not challenge you enough, and you seem to be well if not over-qualified:

OPENING FOR A PROCTOLOGIST:
- must have experience having own head up their own and other people's colons
- must be able to extrapolate (look it up) data from small information and make huge leaps in theory
- must have completed over 18,176 CC games
- must be able to jump in games with lower ranks vs: agreeing beforehand with an invite (like DH does)
- must continually join lower ranked dubs games with high ranking partner

It will probably pay more than your fast food job,

DH

As has been previously stated, and outlined in the above quoted game chat, I felt at the time I was being cheated out of points. I am a logical and intelligent person so after my initial reaction I was ready to accept the fact that I, NOT DAVID, joined that game which places the infraction 100% on my shoulders. Sure, I have not played a ton of FS for points but the points are there from other games. David has given me HOURS of advice in private chat and in my email. You can see some of his comments on my wall, one today clearly indicating he is still watching my games and giving advice when he sees flaw. Before we played that game at Waterloo, he told me he would teach me some tricks about the game; "some" is probably the biggest underestimation I could imagine. I hold the value of knowledge quite high so perhaps I am undervaluing your view on the 5 points David scored that day. If this were the case, however, I would not be taken by surprise as the intelligence level around here seems to very greatly.

Good day sir.

Flaming/baiting, though humorous youre not really helping your case at all...
