Hence why we feel it falls under a forum violation.

If he continues to do this then we can look at further punishment.

edit: afterthoughts...remember that farming is specifically new recruits.

Well, its the 3rd time he benifitted from the system. Ok, its not the same as the previous 2 times, but still he benefitted from it.

Subject: bettyflintstone pointdumping [Deactivated], [Warnings/Reset]

For those who benefitted from bettyflintstone's point dumping, warnings have been sent out for those with their first offense in this area. For those with their second, namely obliterationX, they've received a score reset to 1000.

Only 1 pm is not severe abuse. Come on, you're a mod, you should know this.

Also, please use spelling and grammar correctly or you might not get the right message across.

It certainly can be, depending on the specifics of the particular PM in question.

Sigh...
he a) did this on more than one occasion.
b) He is abusing his pm privileges by posting fake links in them.

Im done talking to you about this. You are arguing for the sake of arguing.

Personally, this seems like the sort of thing that should have earned obx a permanent site vacation, so I'd say he's getting off very very easy. Low, classless, and the very definition of "ruining other people's fun." Anyone so blinkered as to defend this... well, it's just firth and aalfarmer, so that makes sense.

:) Merci. Although I wasn't defending what he did, just saying that if you use the logic that mods have applied to previous threads, then this report is spurious in the eyes of the mods.

A thread about one pm is not severe pm abuse.

let me put this as simple as possible.. He was sending private messages telling players about an add-on for CC, and when they clicked the link they were stuck in a game with him.. how is that not an abuse of the private message system?

just because he didnt flood there inbox doesn't mean there isnt a several pm abuse going on

Let me add to Vamps explanation in case you need some more hand holding (though you are probably just trying to be a troll as usual):

The word "Severe" in this case of "severe PM abuse" doesn't imply quantity, but its natural definition of severity.

Like if I said you had severe head trauma has a child, which in turn made you retarded, it would imply that the single instance of trauma was severe, not that you were introduced to multiple incidences of trauma, which was probably what actually happened in your case.

This guy knows his sh*t. :) =D>

If your really thinking this statement is true then you might be in more trouble then we all thought. Firth needs to go read the community guidelines as well as about half the posters that posted in here in response to him.

firth4eva wrote: just saying that if you use the logic that mods have applied to previous threads, then this report is spurious in the eyes of the mods.

firth4eva wrote:Just relaying what king said to me. ;)

Once again you have completely taken what little tid bits you wanted from the messages to you about what spurious is and what it isn't and twisted it to your own self serving definition. I'm not going to waste my time explaining why this thread was not spurious, cause you've already won the argument against LV right, , if you truly care to understand why it is not spurious then read what Snowgun and Vampire wrote about it, they hit the nail on the head.

As for the punishment handed out, he was punished as per the community guidelines for the offense that took place. Seeing as the offense took place from going around functions in the PM's to trick others in joining games without informing them he was revoked rights of using the forum/PM system.

Generally for someone to be site banned they are a nuisance on the site and have developed quite a bit of a list of violations during their time. All the deeds of users that habitually violate the rules and live on the outskirts of CC policies does not go unnoticed, it just takes time to reach a cumulative amount of these before we revoke their rights completely. Which you would think would be revered as a good thing from the community, especially those that violate policies themselves. Players that cause discontent on a regular basis will generally have it all catch up to them sooner or later. The ruling on this case will add to the repertoire that OBX has for himself.

Does this mean that obliterationX can still receive PMs, or is it just sending them that is disabled?

I ask because I know he is signed up for at least a couple of tournaments right now, and the inability to receive PMs will obviously mean he will not be able to join games.

I'm not actually running any tournaments, but there's at least 1 I'm in right now with a game open waiting for him to join. I'll pass it along to the TO and he can decide what to do.
