Favorite Movie Trilogy

Postby AK_iceman on Fri Feb 16, 2007 5:33 pm

Trilogies are awesome because they give you such a better storyline and character descriptions over 3 movies instead of just 1. Here's a few of my favorites, and some that I googled.

My favorite is probably Lord of the Rings. Awesome books, even better movies!

Wow, this one is going to require some thought. One that you left out would be the Matrix trilogy.

I'm going to have to think long about this one before deciding!

Same.

Although Batman does have a special place in my heart. Can you believe that they have Heath Ledger playing the next Joker? Not my fucking idea of a Joker. Steve Buschemi is more like it.

The Matrix isn't a trilogy! It's one great film with two B-movies added on to get some quick cash from the public.

But would Lord Of The Rings be considered a true trilogy, considering the movie was filmed all at once and split into 3 movies.

I don't know, I think Heath might be able to pull it off.

If you saw Lords of Dogtown he looked, sounded, and acted like a Californian, even though he's from Australia.

A lot of these trilogies are excellent, but there's one you forgot to add: the Sergio Leon 'Man With No Name' movies... fistful, a few dollars more, and good/bad/ugly.

No one calls them a trilogy, but they're as thematically linked as, say, mad max.

Thematic trilogies? I could add another - the vengeance trilogy - Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance. The last two are fantastic, but I've been waiting for the first one for nearly a year on my Blockbuster rental list. Anyone know if it's as good as the others?

I would say another one, Infernal Affairs I, II and III, but while the first is great, the second two are shite - which is one better than the Godfather trilogy, I suppose.

Wait, 11 votes for LotR and only 5 for Star Wars?

Lord of the Rings is just awesome.

Both the books and the movies are just amazing.

I love star wars too, but LOTR is just too awesome for it.

I'm a bigger Star Wars fan, but LotR are better movies, objectively.

LotR without a doubt. One of the few trilogies which can make you hooked to the tv for 10 hours, and still make you want to watch them again, and then read the books for the 10th time.

Star Wars deserves a mention as I love those flims, but I'm not fanatical about them.

Godfather 1 is good, but I never really got into the second 2.

Btw, you missed out the Bartimaues trilogy, even though there just books.
