I was going to give it a shot to try and redo the map from scratch but I can't find a good topographical map or the map that was used as a basis for the existing map. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Haha, that post was funny, OID. I took time to edit the circles so they could be properly centered on a map whose thread / timeline I have previously called a disastrous piece of shit that I was never going to revisit. I made one little smudge around Lanaudière. Pfft. There's a difference between asking for a smudge to be fixed and saying the whole thing is unusable in a condescending ton. Oh, and your part is nowhere near done.

1. I'd sure like to hear someone else's opinion for once instead of just yours. You've shared your opinion, and as you said you wouldn't re-visit, so please don't let the door hit you on your way out of this thread. *Wait's for your reply*

2. Your mistake was one of many that already existed on the map.

3. The xml is complete, and has been OK'ed by Forza AZ, therefor my part is done. (Other than co-ordinates which will be fixed once I get a decent map)

4. Your versions of the map suck. No one ever asked you to make them.

To dolomite13, I'll see what I can do.

This map has been a disaster from the start. There has been no consistency of management/oversight, to the point where nobody has ownership of it, and there doesn't appear to be a usable working file to enable quick and easy edits.

The issues that are being raised again now (such as the army centering) were raised a long time ago, before a lengthy stint in the recycling bin.

To dolomite13, I'll see what I can do.

1. There you go—the highest in the Foundry "ranks" called this a disaster as well. If you read the thread, there are dozens of respectable Foundry veterans who have called this thing a piece of shit, and within the Staff Room more and worse. People complain about "elitism," but it works the other way around: when new members come in and show up with shitty XML jobs, say it's "done," and meander along the way trying to disregard what has been raised multiple times, that is blatant ignorance.

2. http://i.imagehost.org/0487/stlaurentlarge.jpg & http://i.imagehost.org/0663/stlaurentsmall.jpg
No, it isn't, but nice try.

3. It is not complete! You seem to get that the co-ords are part of the XML. The co-ords are not done, and so the XML is not finished. Do you see an "X" in the thread title? Christ…

4. Boo hoo. Good luck centering on the same map where you failed miserably, because I can't see why anyone would try to help this shithole.

P.S. Jesus owns my soul! Halle-fucking-lujah!

Oh but I thought you were never going to visit again? If you actually read my post I said the XML is done, EXCEPT for the coordinates, which can't be fixed until the map is. For the time being, my work IS done.

The time line has been horrible, Unit will even agree on that. The map has gotten the First Draft, Graphics & Game play stamps and has made it into the Final Forge. If the map was really as big of a piece of shit as you make it out to be, would it have gotten this far?

We're in the works of fixing all of the problems with the map, and we are not going to post any updates until everything is fixed, We learned that lesson the first time.

Until then I'd appreciate it if you shut the hell up the.killing.44, as your opinion means nothing to me anymore.

How exactly has it been a 'disaster' from the start? As I recall, it has all of its stamp's and is waiting on the final army circle's and a few small things to be fixed.

It would help if you would actually put in suggestions instead of rants, and maybe this map would finally be up. The only thing you have done here is rant about it with no suggestions on how to fix it. When I was actively in the foundry community mods actually helped with suggestions, and how to fix them. I know a lot of people who want to play this map, and since Conquer Club has a lot of French-Canadians I would take it they would like to play as well.

At least Dolomite13 and Thenobodies80 are willing to help instead of rant on, and on about how it is a 'disaster'. I would appreciate it if someone else could give in a few suggestions and maybe how to fix them. Rants don't help, so if any of you have any more of them; please keep it to your self.

It's on the first page, not in the last post:

<largex>349</largex>
<largey>184</largey>

This one is on the first page, the one posted last probably isn't current.

OK here ya go Unit_2 ... hope this helps...

I know you have a decent looking map but I figured that if I have to redo the whole thing from scratch I would polish it in the areas that I thought might be slightly lacking. So here is my interpretation of the Golfe Du St-Laurent map.

Enjoy :)

Would these be the correct credits?

I added the above credits. I also added some shading to the key to make it more readable and I softened the edge of the continents. It was pointed out to me that the continent edges were a bit jagged so I softened them.

Title - too blaring. Tone down the colors, opacity, and blending mode.

Water - too uniform. I think you used a pattern overlay—try smudging all around (what I did on Greenland, though you can tone down the strength)

Font - too "bleh," also too bright and big. Go back to a serif font, lower the size by 2pt, and make the color more of a gray. The same goes for the legend font.

Legend - like I said, change the font. also, add a hyphen or colon between the names and numbers, and make the glow to the outside much less sharp.

Also, get the accents right. Lanaudiére should be Lanaudière, etc. Looks good though.

I take issue with this, and consider it an insult to people like Lone Prophet, oaktown, the.killing.44 and even sailorseal that there is no mention of their names on the map. It is one thing to put some work into a map in order to help push it over the finishing line; something else to claim responsibility for the whole journey.

The other thing to consider is that there is a maximum limit of two medals per map. While the map looks good, I think it would be difficult for any of you to claim ownership of the project. At this moment in time, I would argue that the three names you listed are not the three people who have invested the most effort into getting the map thus far.

I see names in his post. Do you not? Instead of taking it personally, why don't you try reading more carefully.

Read the oak quote—it's probably better. How about "A Foundry Collaboration?"

Going to need help with that as American English is my only language. But I changed that accent... let me know if I missed any please.

Sure I see comments but none of them constructive. And surely no definitive list. I changed the credits to "the Foundry"

I don't need any credit for this map I am doing this because I want to see this map succeed and I have lost images due to hard drive crashes many many times before and I can feel everyone's pain. Please let me know if you want any other changes I will be happy to work with everyone involved with this map.

Much better, the only thing I'd change right now would be to lower the bevel depth on the title. Also, see the images in the first post for the correct accents.
