My main Gripe is with Oasis. Which is where Nevada is now. Nevada is a desert and should be placed in the desert bonus if you ask me. Then you move those mountains over to the right spot where they should be. The Sierra Nevada mountain range.

But yes anybody who has ever been to Nevada knows it is not an Oasis, but rather a big desert.

True on both counts. The Mormons at one time petitioned the US government to be admitted as State of Deseret, which covered all of Utah parts of California, Arizona and yes the majority of Nevada. I put it in Ecovania to give the bonuses a little balance. This is 40 years in the future, and who knows, Nevada may become an Oasis! And there are mountains between Utah and Nevada, as I have driven between Salt Lake City and Elko many times, not big, but when you're driving a semi loaded down with a total of 80,000 lbs, it's a good climb.

I shall keep Oasis where it is to keep the bonuses balanced and to not create a bottle neck going up the west coast.

Lots & lots of options.

So what bonus structure/value does your chicken suggest?

Chicken says.........

I just think they are overvalued when compared to bonus regions/tert counts.

BUT

Having High value on them sure makes it desirable to hold them. Guess it boils down to what kind of game play/strategies your looking for. You could do a lot of interesting things with them.

One more thing to consider. If caps do not start as neutral a player could get a bunch of them on the drop and have a GREAT advantage.

Yes I did think of that Mr. Chicken, and the chances of that happening are slim to none.

So with all due consideration, I think I am going with Classic GP on this one. It seems to me after looking and studying that it would be the best style of map.

isaiah40, hi. you asked me to drop by for look see and it's coming along fine.
I very much like the title. good job. :)
But don't quite like the mountains as that style has been around the block a couple of times in other maps, but that is personal preference.
It's looking clean with distinct colouring, but my main concern now would always be the small version and how that is going to read with legend text and will the army circles fit in those terts when its downsized to 630px wide.
Gameplay wise, the chain that is western Canada, since this map is in the future, would it be better for gameplay to bring the border of British Columbia down to meet the Wahsington State border so that Alberta can be attacked from Washington. It would simply unhinge that link of terts there a bit.
I also think you should try to do something futurustic with the legend, but in order to do that most designers look to the past and then expand on that, Just a thought that might give it something extra if you want.
Great work so far. :)

As per cairns suggestion I have moved the Washington border so it borders Alberta.

It may be because I live there, but Washington looks really strange with that piece of land sticking out to connect with Alberta. I would try maybe pushing the Alberta border more to the left. Looks great! :)

u can't expand alberta because the rocky mountains are in the way!

http://www.travel.bc.ca/regions/

another change to canada that can improve its playability: there's nothing much at all in northern manitoba, so assume that, after winnipeg declared independence, saskatchewan took over the rest of manitoba without needing to fight (call the merged region saskatchewan). this leaves canada with 6 border regions, which is just about viable.

to keep the number of regions the same, we can split pennsylvania in two and call the western half pittsburgh (eastern half phl?): the democrats region just doesn't look suitably industrialised and densely-populated just now. call this zone democratic america or something, since most of the other zones have a name that is the name of a country, not a party.

i'm thinking about how we ought to do the capitals just now.

If your looking for another tert for Democrats you could always put LONG ISLAND on the map............. Call it Liberty Island Or Old York City.

Isaiah,
Graphically it is coming along very nicely. I think that the background symbols for the bonus areas could be more distinctive.
Also, Maybe you could look into a more futuristic looking font. Just an idea. ;)

Great Concept & Great Design!

Love the Greene Piece name, but also think that there is no way Washington could be part of the Canada, could be only vice versa.

Is this your idea or is it from some sci-fi book?

Washington might not be, on the other hand since this is a futuristic map "why not?" I actually got the inspiration from the Prayers of an Assasin trilogy series. Although it is based on a muslim getting elected and the country going into civil war, so I thought it would be a cool map to do (not using that idea verbatim), a post civil war america still in turmoil and yet try and make it different than the US Apocolypse map, which I think I have accomplished.

Maybe the border is a little exaggerated, I'll reduce it next revision.

Hmmm ... Maybe instead of splitting PA (due to lack of space come the small map) how about if I split Montana into let's say Missoula and Billings?

I know, but for cleanliness for the small map I have to omit some areas. Without Long Island (no offense to those that live there), the map will be cleaner and less clutter in the north east part of the map.

Okay here we go!

Changes made:
- Blurred base of mountains so they don't look like they were stuck on
- Removed Manitoba and extended Saskatchewan
- Readjusted Washington's border with British Columbia and Alberta
- Split Montana into 2 territories renaming them to Missoula and Billings
- Reduced Canada bonus down to +7
- Increased Freemen bonus to +5
- Increased opacity on some of the flags

Have 5 different fonts to chose from in the legend, please tell me which one you like better. Also added a cracked/fractured wall background to the legend area, please tell me yes or no to it.

I am kinda diggin the Amexica font. I would like to see if it works well scaled down. I also like the Rivers and mountain font. It is similar to Star Wars font. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. But it certainly has a futuristic feel.

Change Brisbay for Nord du Québec and Val d'Or for Abitibi

And for York change for Toronto or Ottawa.

And Gapsé for Montérégie or Estrie

isaiah40, point in case, i can't read most of those names on the small map with the font used and the treatment given them, even though i know most of them are, they have to be big and distinct enough for everyone to read.
That is one reason why i always do my small map first and use an upscale version to the large.
So you may need to increase that font size on the small map somewhat for each tert.
PLacement wise your army circles look like they will fit fine. :)
Edit:
The new background on the lower legend looks fine and appears consistent with the background sea.
It's those boxes, prehaps others are happy with them, i don't know, but i'd start thinking outside the boxes and perhaps give new life to the legend area....then whatever you have new for the bonus legend design the same treatment as the you've given the title.
Move elements of your map around to see what you can arrive at that will make it look as though you put a good deal of thought into the design.
Hope this helps. :)
