Why didn't you warn them in the chat before posting this? Kind of looks like you formed an alliance with the other player first, and the remaining two teamed up against the alliance that you formed.

Not going to argue with you on the point that posts should be English, but it is a bit strange that you brought it up here, rather than in chat first. What do you feel would be a good response to this?

Was not aware I had to warn them , the rules are there for all of us to read and abide to.

I had no alliance just an agreement not to attack on on frontier.

You don't have to warn them.. That's king achilles job & pleasure to do. And it does not matter if you had an alliance or not.. Your truce was in English.

It's an obvious breach of the rules. Poster SYmmetry is just yanking you or wants to be a peace maker mod. A kinder - gentler - machine gun hand.

From the game chat...

2009-09-19 20:39:59 - chemefreak: blue wants to create a truce with yellow....to kill the others....working together...something about they have to to win...since the other guys truced...and then yellow asks for the La Plata bonus...and then thank you...your welcome...i love spanish...

They will probably just be warned. If they have a history of it than they could be blocked from playing each other. If they have a long history than they would get kicked.

You can always hope that they are multis than they will be kicked & out of the game.

Just take your time doing your turns.

Thanks 40K for putting the tags in correctly.

A quick search results in no before mentioned claims on either one of the accused. And a quick game search shows no other games that they are in.

Looking at the game chat of the game referenced I think its safe to assume that the 2 accused felt they needed to join forces in a alliance since you and the OP did so. Midknightshadow even asked for an alliance in English in chat.

Game 5540029 Chat wrote:2009-09-17 20:40:32 - Midknightshadow: Blue looks like its me and you now that Red and Green have teamed up

Now donjuanp8 responded to that query, but he/she did so in another language other than English (Spanish). Which is in violation of the rules. Given that this user is new to the site, not an excuse, and given the other circumstances that were left out of the initial report I would venture to say this will be Noted and a Warning given to donjuanp8 to conduct all game chat in a language that is understood by all.

I don't see either of these as a multi account with each other, however I'm sure an IP check will still be ran. So I suggest you to continue to play the game out and Foe &/or Rate Accordingly.

King Sam

Nah- wasn't trying to, erm "yank" the guy, or play mod. Just that this kind of complaint isn't really cheating. At best it's worth a warning or a note, and that's easily done by the player in chat. No need to make it formal and ask for points back, especially while the game is in play.

It's easy enough to say "Please post in English- those are the guidelines" in chat. Easier than going to the mods and accusing your opponents of cheating and abuse while the game is in play.

Still, the chat shouldn't have been in another language, but like king sam noted, the declaration was in English for everyone to understand. Though you seem to have oddly left that part out of the section of game chat you quoted.

The OP knew there was an alliance, and could have asked for the details to be in English if he'd wanted. Even the details are kind of easy to understand, and I don't speak Spanish. "La Plata" is "La Plata" after all.

Anyway- I was asked the OP what (s)he thought would be a good response to this. He seems to want disqualification, which doesn't really seem like a fair thing to ask for.

And I don't think that taking revenge by slowing down the game is a great solution either.

Slowing down a game in which you have 24 hours to move, if you chose to move, is not revenge when faced with cheating. Simple as that. Especially if multi is suspected. If multi is the case than they should not be playing anyway. (I realize this is not a multi case)

IMO. A report is necessary when faced with someone cheating so if it keeps happening it can be properly addressed.

A foreign dialog in re of strategies and diplomacies is specifically not allowed if not all players speak that language.

A warning for sure is due.

Keep up the quality work King S!!

this is simple to me , I did not make a truce with red , but simply agreed to not attack on the Greenland boarder. This in no way implied that I would not attack him anywhere else. The others started communicating in another language without advising the other players and this is a violation of the rules and they should be stripped of the points or kicked out of the game.

thx for your attention.

That's fair enough, I guess we just disagree on whether this really constitutes cheating. Not a multi, not a secret alliance, not really secret diplomacy, but certainly breaking an element of that rule.

I still think that he could have mentioned it in the chat before asking the mods that they be disqualified for cheating, especially while the game is in play. Seems like an attempt to intimidate opponents in to playing a different type of game. He's asking for them to have their points stripped or be kicked.

Here's the rest of the log to this point though:

2009-09-20 15:19:15 - Midknightshadow: lol, I see you brought in your very own translator ;o)
2009-09-20 18:14:22 - OVER: yeah , i also reported you both for cheating .
2009-09-20 22:11:48 - donjuanp8: report all u want, u made a truce with red first. If you read the game log, u will see that we still attack each other unlike green and red. u have not attacked each other in the last few turns.
2009-09-20 22:13:32 - donjuanp8: also, get a good translator because yellow did not ask for la plata, he offered it to me. but as you can see in the log, i did mot take it because it is not in my best intrest.
2009-09-20 22:16:05 - donjuanp8: the log has all the info so quit complaining.
2009-09-21 04:14:25 - Midknightshadow: Your own translator said "something about they have to to win...since the other guys truced" you brought it on yourselves.

Anyway, I'll leave this argument up to the mods now. It seems like all the info is here for a decision.

I'll just leave this awesome quote that I read two days ago. It's from a book about the human desire to play games, Homo Ludens by Johan Huizinga:

"As soon as the rules are broken, the world of play disintegrates. Play ends, the player who resists the rules or seeks to avoid them is the spoilsport. The spoilsport is entirely different from the cheat. The latter pretends to play the game. He acknowledges the magic circle of play but only on the surface. The community of players forgives him more easily than it forgives the spoilsport, because the spoilsport destroys their world itself. By withdrawing from play he reveals the relativity and fragility of that world of play into which he had locked himself temporarily, together with his fellow players. That is why he must be destroyed, because he threatens the very existence of that community of play."

Kind of applies to both parties in this one. OP thinks it's a case of cheating, but on the other side the OP is being a spoilsport by withdrawing from play. Either way the game is spoiled. Awesome book though.

Sorry OVER but if this is the 1st offense in re of rules violation they will not be "kicked" or have points removed from them. Just warned and reminded of the rules in re of proper diplomacy.

Thank you for bringing it to all of our attention.

Be sure to rate them however you believe they deserve.
