I've changed real-life jobs, so my upcoming tournament organizing might not be as frequent as it was this summer, but I fully intend to continue on the Initech brand. This is the 8th edition of the series (I've got 8 more already planned) and I hope they've been enjoyable to all that have participated. Initechs I, III, IV & V are all in their final games (II is finished), so I thought it was about time to unveil the next one. So, without further adieu, I present: Initech VIII: Mediterranean Holiday
Initech VIII, like all Initechs, will be sequential flat, chained and foggy. This edition will be entirely terminator. All other relevant details follow:
OVERVIEW
24-player, 3-round, 42-game, 7-map tournament. All players guaranteed seven games. Max games for an individual player is 21.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
MAPS
The following maps will be used: Africa, Ancient Greece, France, Iberia, Italy, Malta, Middle East
RULES
Terminator, Sequential, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy for all games.
POINT SYSTEM
Each elimination is worth 1 point.
Each map win is worth an additional 2 points.
ROUNDS
First round will be 3 groups of 8 players each. Each group plays 7 games (1 on each map). The top 4 players in each group advance to the semifinals.
The semifinals consist of 2 groups of 6 players each. Each group plays 7 games (1 on each map). The top 2 players in each group advance.
The finals will consist of 1 group of four players. The final group plays 7 games (1 on each map). The player with the most points is the tournament champion.
SEEDINGS
Once I have 24 entrants, I will divide everyone into four pots by points/rank. Two persons from each pot will randomly go into each first round group.
TIEBREAKERS
The first tiebreaker in the first round will be most map wins. The second tiebreaker is a head-to-head match on Malta with tournament settings.
The first tiebreaker in the semifinals will be the number of map wins in that round. The second tiebreaker will be the better performance in the first round (including, if necessary, the tiebreaker from the first round). The third tiebreaker will be a game on the Malta map under tournament settings.
The first tiebreaker in the finals will be the number of map wins in that round. The second tiebreaker will be the number of overall points in the tournament. The third tiebreaker will be the better performance in the semifinal round (including, if necessary, the tiebreaker from that round). The fourth tiebreaker will be a game on the Malta map under tournament settings.
