I was having a grand time in game 5548392, paying little heed to the game chat but - when I did - I noticed a secret pact had been concluded between two players using the Portuguese language. Fortunately, I am fluent in Portuguese (and 7 other languages), however, one of my opponents - who would have been paying attention to the game chat - was not, ergo, the pact was allowed to develop without interference.

I believe this was inadvertent and unintentional but impacted the outcome of the game and would like to request all transferred points be back-awarded with no further sanction or penalty on the players involved (we hugged it out later on).

1. Saxi did not engage in "diplomatic discussion" just some light conversation about women, wine and food.

2. While I understood the "diplomatic discussions" occurring in Portuguese, the fourth opponent did not.

EDIT: I am distraught at having been subjected to Secret Diplomacy and would like to amend my original C&A to request that I be awarded 50 bonus points due to anguish.

Oh, I dunno- were you involved in diplomatic discussions in a language that not all players could understand? Cos it looks like you were, and then tried to get points out of it after it was certain that that player was going to be eliminated and that you weren't going to win. That's pretty sneaky.

1. If you're going to make that accusation you'll need to cut and paste specific quotes by me that constitute "secret diplomacy." Inability to do so would retroactively classify your post as a flame. I report all flames to colton and/or the mods.

2. I'm not closing the discussion; I'm making a statement of fact - that is, the discussion is already closed in point of fact that the intent is now moot: the complaint has been withdrawn since I've accepted colton's ruling. If you'd like to continue discussing a withdrawn complaint you should, however, feel free to do so at your leisure and pleasure, however, if you need additional input or background from me you'll need to PM me for it as I won't be monitoring this thread since it has cycled to a satisfactory conclusion for me.

Cut and pasted. Saxi understood the negotiations. Did not inform the other player, or indeed complain here until after the negotiations were finished. The other players clearly recognised that Saxi understood Portuguese, as per the game log: Game 5548392 and he admits that he knew diplomatic discussions were occurring. Above is Saxi complaining and asking for extra points.

This has been demanded by Saxi to show that I am not flaming him and have an actual argument, as apparently I will be reported otherwise.

2 - I have zero obligation to notify anyone of secret diplomacy. The rules prohibit secret diplomacy, the rules do not command that an innocent player who ambles upon secret diplomacy notify other players. If you think poor ol' saxi is gonna voluntarily play the part of the Good Samaritan, you clearly do not know him.

3 - All points are, as I have said, moot. Colton has already issued a ruling, I've accepted the ruling and withdrawn the complaint. The horse is dead and the horse's mare would appreciate it if you stopped beating her dead colt. (note: the preceding was a modified "beating a dead horse" analogy, not a death threat against colton24)

I commend Saxi for reporting this cheat. He is not obligated to inform the other player/s of the cheat. But since it was not in a language all players understood the complaint should still be pursued. The secret diplomacy rules are very clear. Do not let these players get away with it.
