True.
DM will be missed as a forum star, but this kid was one of the most naturally talented CC players around. Achieved massive point scores, played a variety of maps and styles and was (apart from the odd youthful over-exuberance) and all round good sort. As far as I know, he didn't cheat his way up there either.
We could barely find a member who hated him...as I remember.
Yet he was given a site ban, putting him in with the bracket of member who was actively trying to bring the site in disrepute...a la wicked.
Really?
This kid's site ban actually annoyed me far more than DM's forum ban. I thought, and still think, that you should only remove a (in my view) top 10 player overall under the most pressing of circumstances. Mouthing off in live chat (or whatever it was) hardly qualifies.
Of all of the recent bans this was the worst and most undeserved.
But now what are his options? Start a new account quietly? His win rate will have him noticed pretty much immediately so that's out.
Plead with admins via e mail for a fresh start? Maybe, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'd start again on the cusp of 6 month ban, as they did to him last time. (Remember that all of these offences were minor in nature).
So I have no idea. I'd buy him his premium (as would others) in a flash if I thought he'd be given a fair crack of the whip. Why? Because I admire excellence (especially in one so young) and believe intelligence should be nurtured, not cast away like a piece of trash because a teenager told a chat mod to get bent.
I joined in a couple of games with him to show my support (looks like we are facing off against jr24 just to give it some fizz)...let's see if the admins will let this account have a fair crack.
