Continue my Major+ Series of the Doubles tournament.
Updated (Sept 25, 2009):
Due to some drop-offs and time required to managed this tournament I have decided to amend the league format.
1. Starting from round 6, the bottom 4 teams will be eliminated from the tournament every round. 2. There will be 9 rounds in total. In the final round there will be 8 teams remaining. 3. The Round length is increased to 2 weeks.
Disclosing any opponents' information in the fog games IS PROHIBITED. The violating team will receive -1MP for that game, regardless of their result. The game will be re-created with remaining teams to settle the remaining points.
ALSO ANY ALLIANCES ARE PROHIBITED TOO in the multi-team games
This one will start July 20 or sooner. Similar to my previous, Spring League.
Please note that this tournament is going to have very heavy workload (up to 72 games per team) and 6 new games will be started every week. Do not join unless you want to commit to the heavy game load
The games settings will be as follow: 8 players doubles Alternating Reinforcement (Adjacent/Chained/Unlimited) ESCALATING spoils only FOG only
There will be around 24 teams. They will be placed into 1 huge League, and paired up using Swiss Tournament System
There will be 12 rounds. In each round each team will play 6 games with different opponents. Win gives you 4 points, second place - 2 point, third place - 1 point. Most points win the tournament after 12 rounds.
There are no teams eliminated during the length of the tournament.
Entry Requirements and Sign-up procedures:
2200+ points for each team member.
Players must play together at least 25 doubles games before joining this tournament. If you don't qualify because of this rule, please let me know, and I will use my own discretion.
I can deny or allow entrance of the particular team at my own discretion.
To sign up post your team members here. Your partner must confirm the participation by posting here too.
Premium membership is required for the whole duration of the tournament.
Once you are signed up, you don't have to maintain 2200+ rating.
Winner gets +4 MPs, Second +2MP, Third 1MP, Forth 0 MP.
Most Points wins tournament.
Every game must finish by the end of round 35.
If a game is not finished by beginning round 36 then every team remaining will get -1 (minus one) MP.
Those rules will be applied regardless of how many armies/countries you have left.
No shows, forfeiting and substitutions
Every team must join its games within 2 day period, since they were posted, unless advanced warning was provided. Upon expire of this period the team will receive a 0.1MP penalty and team might need to provide a substitution. If substitution is not provided, then the team will forfeit their games and will be excluded from the tournament.
If team is excluded from the tournament when I will try to provide a substitution team, which will inherit all the MP from the excluded team.
Maps to be played: Random maps every round, chosen from the following pool: Minimum 6 starting territories per player, no beta maps; but otherwise anything goes
Q. I have another player on the ignore list. A. If you happen to be in the same group as he is, then you would need to take him off the ignore list, so they can join the games. After that you can put them back on the ignore list right after they join the game.
Q. Also how are maps assigned - is there a strict rotation? A. We will have one single map per set of games, which will be randomly selected from the pool of maps. So not every map from the pool will be played. But everyone in a group will play the same set of maps.
Q. I am away for that week - should I get my account sitter to join the games for that week or wait until I get back? A. Yes, you would need an account sitter to join those games. This is just because we have very busy schedule going, 5+ new games each week. If we delay the joining for a week, the schedule will be skewed and it will be a pain for me.
Q. since it's a captain+ tourney i was curious why are there teams with less than 4000 points? i have nothing against this but since i see captains or majors on the waiting list i wonder how come those weren't chosen A. Those people had 2200 points when they signed up. Between their sign up and the time when tournament has started their rating went down.
There is no way I can expect everyone to be above 2200 for the whole duration of the tournament, otherwise i would need to disqualify half of the players.
Think about 2200+ more like entry requirement, which kind of shows your ability. The reason why 2200+ rule is in place is to provide the strong competition. And not to limit your potential rating loses.

bigragooch and jgalioto are in, if you let me slide on the rules (only have 2053 pts right now). Big and I have played in many doubles tourneys and it would be fun to do so again.
I really enjoyed the spring tournament and I'd love to be in this one. I'll probably have to get a different partner because JCKING is considering quitting... And I'll also have to get my points up quick. But that shouldn't be to big of a deal.
So if you could hold a spot open for me, that would be great!
I'm in I just need to scrounge me a mate that can hold a rank Maybe Redfelt will team with me. He and I made an awesome tandom when we used to team together.

My apologies - I hadn't read the format in detail and only now do I realize it's 4-team doubs all in fog. I'll withdraw the entry for myself and Daryth if the rules remain unchanged.
My concerns would be manifold:
- a whole heap of arguments as to what should have been played by whom when a game is lost (minor problem, but it will surely lead to friction in the tourney)
- the possibility of secret alliances
- throwing a game to a lower-ranked team to prevent those in close contention from winning the points
- the likelihood of fellow clan members or friends being in different teams yet having their password(s) so that a foggy map can be viewed from different perspectives (the biggest problem)
Good luck with it if you stick to the format you've initiated. I've enjoyed the Spring Doubles League immensely and you've done a sterling job, so will be sorry to sit this one out unless the points I've made above prompt you to revise the settings.
