Live Foundry Chat

Postby dolomite13 on Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:36 am

I would like to propose that a "Foundry" channel be added to the live chat. In addition I think it would be great if we could schedule one evening per week as a designated discussion night. The dates could be listed in the foundry newsletter and we could even have selected topics such as "Map making in Gimp vs Photoshop" or "Applying colorblind filters" etc... I would be happy to volunteer as coordinator for the chat though I may not always be able to attend.

Thanx

We could always just start a private group. I think someone did once, wca, just like a spur of the moment thing. No one said anything, I think .44 was there, maybe MrBenn too but if I recall correctly he left before saying anything [/offtopic]

But that would be cool for a weekly Foundry Meeting.

WHat day is good for everyone?

I hang out in Live Chat semi-regularly, and the mapmakers used to chat away in a private room.... but there haven't been many people on at the same time for quite a while now.

We actually did that quite a few times. I don't remember who started it, but I don't think it was me.
We had about a month where the room would always have people in it.
I just invited other mapmakers as I saw them join live chat.

Now its just lonely.

You can't go into the gay bar alone, you need to bring a partner

I think the idea of a weekly Foundry Chat may be a bit too often (similar to why the Newsletter only releases every 2 weeks). I think using it as a cool place to chat among fellow-minded people would be fun, and allow us to meander off topic *coughnotlikewedon'tdothatalreadycough* while still being somewhat Foundry-related. Perhaps topics, but I think for the first few we should have some dialog about current issues facing the Foundry, or whatever come to people's minds at the time (more likely to be "successful"). If this idea does go forward, I'm sure the Newsletter can note its existence, and maybe Andy or OP can OK the use of a Headline for it.
