Qwert may I suggest bribing Andy to quench your map with some Colombian bananas? They are very tasty and Andy has a soft spot for them. I am trying to soften him vis-a-vis my map by sending him a box every week. Don't tell the other map makers though! ;)

even with bigger shadows, because the army numbers have a stupid font, with odd & even pixels, you can never get all the army symbols totally centred.

ever..

if you look at each and every map you play, when you start getting into higher army numbers, some aren't totally central. you just don't often notice it.

I never said to make the shadows bigger. And I'll say again, I havent noticed quenched maps with uncentered numbers.

There are still a few out.
Other map makers can manage to fix this problem, you should be able to.
Novgorod, Moscow and Demyansk are still out.

Why dont you ask other map makers what size army shadows they have used. Yours do seem a tad too big. Maybe that will help.

qwert wrote:Keyogy do you 100% sure that in yours map all numbers strictly centered?

To the best of my knowledge, yes all my numbers were centred. I've had no complaints.

So, lets see:
- Novgorod (i'm guessing 1px too far to the right)
- Demyansk (the border behind it makes it hard to judge)

I think what makes it look a little odd is that with so many single numbers on the map, this room for error is more obvious. This point in the centre where the number goes one way or the other is the main problem. I think it'd look better if all numbers were on one side of the centre point. For example Rzhev and Mozhaisk are on one side, Bryansk is on the other... it makes them look out of centre.

Perhaps see if you can get the tester to come up with more double digit numbers? Either way, if there's not going to be any more changes made to the actual map it should probably be final forged so we can pick at these little things. Before final forge though, I think some borders could use some adjusting. However it seems my request for this earlier has fallen on deaf ears.

Borders issues:
- Demyansk (army shadow over border)
- Narva (army shadow on or right next to border)
- Maykop and Rostov (army shadows could just be moved away from borders)

You reqwest its strange. Number with even number of pixel its best for centralising and belive me that Novgorod and demyans its centralise, and i will prove you.
And keyogy if you dont belive me that i can find you not 1 or 2 noncentralised numbers, i can find 15 noncentralised numbers in yours map.

If you can find that many in the aussie map you should have spoken up weeks ago.

The problem with yours are they aren't all out in the same direction.
Stop using quenched maps as an excuse for not fixing problems with your map. You used that excuse with the font and you ended up changing it anyway. Why dont you take the time and effort to fix it?

AndyDufresne wrote:I'm not asking you to get it down to .1 px alike in all areas, but centralizing can be done with time and a little effort.

OMG, I don't think I've come across someone so stubborn and narrow minded my whole life. I retract any comments about this map being final forged, I hope you continue to bitch and whinge about any minor suggestions to improve your map and you give up again.

As posted in the Official How to Make a Map thread:
Developmental maps will be discussed in length in the Foundry, in their respective topics. Cartographers must be open to any advice and suggestions. Be sure that if you do not implement said advice you must have logical reason for doing so. This rebuttal must be stated either by you, or argued by another Foundry poster who sees the drawbacks or shortcomings in said advice. There will be no rebuttals of ā€˜Itā€™s my map, let me do it my way.ā€™ Waiting for feedback on your map is the one of the most important parts of development.

People are only making suggestions to improve your map, not hold it back from being completed. Either make the changes requested or give your logical reason for refusing. There's no need to compare and then complain about other maps in comparison, it's irrelevant.

Ok these my last try if you again righ then i will quit work in these my, you dont right and i realy dont understend why you doing these.
Novgorod and Demyans its 100% centralised becouse have numbers with even px but when you add number 1 with 7px you got 15px these odd number. Not 1 single map in all conquer club have centralised numbers, its matematic and nobody can centralised numbers with odd numbers px.

Image

I say again no map in all conquer club can have centralised army numbers, and if you again say that you right, then i will know that you got something agains my map

from the example you posted, it does not look like those numbers are in the same place. The 7 seems higher.

I think I've finally come across the problem. I took your image and put it into photoshop and have found that not all your army shadows are 24x24 pixels. I don't know if it's a side effect of resizing or an effect you've applied to the shadows, but I measured multiple shadows that were 24x25 or 25x25. Some are 24x24, but some aren't. Fix that and I believe the problem will be solved. 8)

I think bedplay owes Teya an apology. :P

In this example your number 7 is size 12 by 8. In the other thread you have posted 12 by 7?

why dont you believe Keyogi? Why dont you check for yourself? considering it is YOUR map.

It would also be quicker for you to check so you can fix the problem at the same time rather than arguing about it for a few pages.

I said It SEEMS the 7 is higher. And I think it was because you didnt line the circles up properly in the example.

I really don't have the time. I'm sure you can figure it out for yourself.

Why don't you just get rid of the army shadows if they're such a big problem to fix!?!
