BK Barunt - Bigotry, constant homophobia [Warned]

Postby Simon Viavant on Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:45 pm

Accused:

BK Barunt

The accused are suspected of:

Other: <Explanation>
Bigotry, agressive homophobia

Comments:
So it's been a little while since these super new guidelines have come up.
They haven't stopped him from making several posts such as these ones:
Why is it that each and every thread on sex, marriage and the Bible seems to devolve into "is homosexuality OK?" now?

Granted, this was hardly the most serious of threads, but it does seem to be a pattern now.

i think it's because the average mental age of at least half the posters on CC hovers somewhere between 5 and 9 years. considering the breadth of intellectual opposition to homosexuality here can be summed up as "ewwwww gross"

If i step in a pile of shit, my instinctive reaction is not to deliver a soliloquy on the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune - my reaction is "ewww gross". That's pretty much it for me and the gayboys. I like beautiful women, cerealsultan likes sucking dicks and taking it in the ass. How do i respond to that intellectually?

and

Ut oh, more scientific proof that homosexuality may be caused biologically and not because the individual is possessed by Satan

I can see the bible quoting folk scattering now.

I know of a lot of propaganda from the gayboys and a few unreplicated experiments, but maybe you could enlighten me where they have scientifically "proved" that homosexuality is biologically based.

Do i want a beautiful, smoothly dimpled, Pamela Anderson type of derrierre, or do i want a man's pimpled hairy ass? It's a fooking choice genius - i'll take door number 1, you make sure you close door number 2 behind you now.

and a few more.

I suggest you provide better proof, or at least quote his actions correctly and provide a link (page of thread) to where it can be found. I doubt anyone wants to go diving through 37 pages of a thread looking for a post made by a user that can be perceived one way or another.

Seeing as one topic you linked was "what do you think about gay marriage" I think that to be just the case.

CC does take a liberal approach and allow some things to be said. Unless he is being derogatory to a ethnicity/religion/sexuality I doubt a WARNING will be issued.

If you can quote that and link that properly then it might get better attention.

Good Luck,
King Sam

Look at what I bolded
And I gave you a couple quotes too.
What do you mean, "not quoted correctly"
The 37 page thread didn't have anything about him, it was just clarifying the site's stance to bigotry - Look on page 31 (which is what the title says #-o ) and you'll see their updated stance on bigotry - which included homophobia.

Seeing as one topic you linked was "what do you think about gay marriage" I think that to be just the case.
So if the topic was "What do you think about black people" and someone said "No f-ing n***** gonna vote if I had my way" would that "be just the case"?

Sore......

There is nothing in here that strikes me as Aggressive Homophobia. He's expressing his opinion in a manner that might be construed as slightly mocking, just because his views don't coincide with yours doesn't mean it's acceptable to accuse him of bigotry. I don't see anything but a politically motivated complaint.

Hun... you didn't ask "what do you think about black people". You asked: "What do you think about Gay Marriage?"

The man is entitled to his opinion. When I read some of those quotes I chuckled. I normally don't read alot of posts from B.K since I don't linger in many of the threads he posts in but I should probably read a post or 2 of his a day. He's straight-forward with his opinion and blatantly honest... even colourfully so.

This isn't a place to discuss whether or not we agree with his opinion. Appearantly this is about whether or not he should be allowed to express his opinion in a way that he is doing it. I've heard worse from several people... people I go to school with, people on the cheerleading squad... even gay friends themselves joking back and forth similarly. We don't tell them they can't joke around. We don't tell our friends not to share their opinions and I doubt CC would tell B.K that he shouldn't share his opinion... especially given that it was on topic.

If he made those comments in each and every thread he participated in with no relevance? Than yes, it's out of place... if it's on topic however... have at it.

Simon Viavant wrote:What do you mean, "not quoted correctly"

What you quoted in your original accusation lacks :
A.context surrounding it
B.the user that quoted it
C.evidence supporting where it came from so others may judge based on facts rather then someones post job

Don't see anywhere in anything you posted stating look on page 31 for CC's stance on this

My views are the same as the other users who have posted so far, so they obviously arent that far fetched.

I meant the title of the 37 page thread, not this thread.

BTW if you look on p31 of that thread, homophobia is against the rules, as is any other form of bigotry, regardless of context.

Homophobia is not against the rules, "aggressive homophobia" is against the rules. Those are 2 very different things.

The "aggressive" was removed after discussion in that bigotry thread.

this tests the limits of the new rules quite beautifully.

I found BK's posts amusing and i too chuckled. Does that mean i am homophobic or bigoted towards Gay people?
Well i am certainly not, so there must be something more complex at work here.

Perhaps if you were gay yourself, you might feel differently about such comments being made. You may well have chuckled, but if you were in a real life situation and heard someone say something like that to someone else in a workplace during a similar argument, would you have been so easily amused?

Perhaps i am gay.. but that is not really up for discussion here and the truth of my sexuality shall remain uncertain, that is my choice.

Now i am not saying you were but let's try not to be to preconceived about this. I am being honest about my reaction in order to try to find the truth.

It may be that this is the same as when people made racist jokes in the past and society laughed en masse, guiltily.. or even with abandon.

but i had already considered that (i am not a man incapable of introspection) and i am not convinced it is the same.
I had considered this empathetically.. from Simon's point of view too. (him specifically and trying not to base this on a stereotype.)

I do have a detailed perception on this as a general principle but it is important that we are honest first, i think. (i will keep my general and specific view to myself for the moment too .. out of choice and in order to make it more informed.)

i just think this is quite complex.. more complex than a lazy stereotype or the safe, instinctive position that BK's tone should be banned. If we say that, there is the danger for things to become censorial and bland.. .. Of course it is at the heart of the new ruling to protect people in all capacities but that needs genuine and free deliberation...

Actually no it isn't, but it is a clear example of flaming, by the watered down piss weak definition of flaming that CC uses these days as a yard stick to gage flame content.

In honesty, Artimis, I have to say that I think admin is correct in this particular case. Although I might prefer it to be worded a bit more "nicely", he has a perfect right to express his opinion on the thread topic. Reporting him for posting in a thread devoted to homosexual marriage that he just does not think its right , thinks is gross(more bluntly, yet, but.. that is what he said) seems a bit much.

Now, if he were to keep posting remarks like that in unrelated threads, that would be different.

There has to be a balance. I myself am probably skirting pretty close to the line, some will probably say over it, in a couple of threads there myself.

EDIT-- the above two comments were posted while I wrote the above.

Again, admin seems to have acted appropriately.

As I outlined above please provide better evidence or correctly quoted inserts where this can be found, I didn't feel like diving through nameless pages of content on topics that were posted by the accuser that made comments like the ones he quoted on topic without context. Obviously you ran across at least 1 that proved this. I never acknowledged that I supported this sort of behavior, just that when you have a topic titled "What do you think about gay marriages?" it kinda opens the door for others views like this.
