I hate Soccer. The fields too big, the scores are too low, they take away the most athletic talented part of a persons body, (Hands). Indoor soccoer is far more exciting, and even that is just plain retarded. I love football, but if the average score was 7-3 or something, I'd hate that as much. When Soccer fans watch their favorite team score a goal they nearly have a orgasm. There is something wrong witha sport when 2-0 is a blowout. I truly gave up when the US lost an extra time game 1-0 to Mexico, and it was said how much the US was dominated, and never had a chance, a blowout of monumental proportions. HELLO Morons, it was 1-0. That's awfully damn close. You can't get closer. A blowout is like 10-0, not 1-0, or 2-0. Wake up and realize it's what's on the scoreboard that matters, not the plays on the field. I watched my favorite NFL football team win 35-30. They absolutley dominated the game, but barely won, so, no, they didn't kill the other team. Baltimore gave up only 27 yards of total offense to the Houston Texans, and still lost 24-7 thanks to 3 turnovers returned for touchdowns. That 27 yards was a 60 year low for yards given up, and almost an NFL record, maybe one of the top five best defensive shows in NFL history, but they still LOST the game. So any sport that calls a 1-0 blowout is just plain stupid. That and it's boring as hell to watch. Don't mind playing it, but I'd sooner watch grass grow than watch a soccer game. 3 Hours to see one, and if I'm lucky two whole goals.

when the pundits said they were blown out or whatever they were probably lookiung at all the stats. How many shots they had on goal/on target. successful passes.

low scoring makes the game more tense you never know if your team is acctually going to score. in NFL your almost guarennteed to score and it becomes less special.

Ok, so if France shoots the ball 74 times, and don't make a single goal, and they are playing Germany who Shoots it one time, and it goes in, Germany has won 1-0, but people would still speak as if France had won. That's stupid, the scoreboard is the only thing that matters. 1-0 is a close game no matter how many shots were taken. Soccer is boring to watch, because of the lack of goals. True it makes the goals more exciting, but soccer will never succeed in the US so long as scoring remains in the 1-0, 2-1 range.
Football is high scoring because TD's are worth 7pts, FG's wort 3, and so on. Soccer goals are worth 1 no matter what. If they had lines that made goals worth a certain amount, it would be far more interesting. Imagine 1-2-3-4-5 point kicking lines. You'd never be out of a game, and scoring would be increased, without changing the size of the field or goal. If TD's in Football were worth 1 pt, and FG's didn't exist, no one would watch. Soccer would get a big boost world wide if there were different ways to score, and ways to score more.

So your saying it doesn't matter how enjoyable the sport is, its just whether your team wins and whether the score was high. 'Soccer' is a tactical game, and is at it's best when at end to end football, regardless whether the ball goes in if the keeper saves it it;s just as enjoyable.

sad

I love baseball, and I don't mind a 1-0 baseball game, but not almost every freakin time. I wouldn't want to see 12-10 baseball games all the tike either, cause that's just bad baseball. I would just like to see a little variety to the scores, and action. I could watch 10 soccer games, and they'd all look pretty much the same. Same scores, same strategy. In Baseball, Football, almost anyother sport but Soccer, the scores vary wildly, and you never know what you are going to get. Even upsets. In Soccer, it's nearly a given who will win. The US isn't going to beat Brazil, so what's the point in the game. The score will be 1-0, or 2-0, maybe 2-1, but no matter what, it will be Brazil who scores the extra goal. Soccer is just to predictable, and taking away the use of hands in a sport is just plain dumb. They should at least make it so that you can swat the ball with your hands, as long as you make no attempt to grab it.

So Jamie, if every goal was suddenly worth 10 points rather then 1, so most matches finished about 20-0 and 20-10 it would suddenly be more enjoyable? Thats crap. It the game that makes football enjoyable, not the score.

Man Utd for the title

Postby Blumoki on Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:52 am

I have travelled all over the world watching Football, it is a great sport with may differing levels,

You americans will only be in to it when you start challenging for the top spot.

It hurts me to say that we are likley to see the best footballers ever coming out of the US soon, it will be the next big explosion in the US.

Glazier and Randy cant be wrong......

I also feel that the LA Galaxy will sell more Football shirts next year, than they have ever sold in combined years.
