Welcome to the American Hockey League II tournament, which features 29 players, each representing one of 29 teams from the increasingly popular American Hockey League, one of hockey's premier minor leagues. This tournament will encompass a complete 80 game regular season schedule with a series of playoffs at the end to determine the tournament champion.
TOURNAMENT SETTINGS All games will be 1 vs 1, sequential, no spoils, chained, and sunny. Each player must pick a team to represent and a home map that uses standard gameplay only. No maps with gimmicks or complex/confusing gameplay will be allowed. I reserve the right to veto any map choices. Map and Team choices will be given in order that they arrive. Please look carefully to may sure don't select a team or map that is already taken. You will be allowed to change your map once during the course of the regular season to a previously unused map if you wish. A list of approved maps is provided below.
Please keep in mind that you will receive approximately 4-6 new games to join every week and will be playing 80 total games during the regular season. You will play the same people over and over on a regular basis. If these are things you will have trouble dealing with, please refrain from entering. Foe lists are ignored.
REGULAR SEASON Each player will play a total of 80 regular season games in groups of 4-6 that will be sent to them weekly. I will attempt to send the games out on a regular schedule to aid with players who need to watch their game load. At the conclusion of all regular season games, the top four teams in each division will advance to the playoffs. NOTE: If the #5 team of the West Division has a greater point total than the #4 team from the North Division the team from the West Division will advance and the North Division will only have 3 representatives in the playoffs. This is according to current AHL playoff regulations.
PLAYOFFS The eight playoff teams from each conference will be seeded 1-8 according to their regular season point totals. The teams will then be paired as follows: || 1 vs. 8 || 2 vs. 7 || 3 vs. 6 || 4 vs. 5 ||. Each pairing will play a best of seven games series using a 2-2-1-1-1 format where the team with the higher seeding receives home ice advantage. The process will be repeated twice more to determine a champion from each conference. The two conference champions will then play to determine the Calder Cup Champion.
STANDINGS The standings are determined by points earned. Each player receives 2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, and 1 point for an overtime loss (any game that finishes in 12 rounds or more). The standings will be updated regularly (about every 2-3 weeks). Once the halfway point of the regular season is reached a line will be added to display which teams are currently in the playoffs at that point of the season.
