First off, forcing you to play that retarded card game to get summons was a bad idea. Secondly, if Squall said "..." one more damn time I was going to reach through the screen and throttle him. Oh, and the story was terrible. It hinged far too much on the love story and it just made me wanna puke.
You didn't have to play the card game to get summons. They didn't force you at all.
The storyline in that game was so complex. The reason why he said "..." so many times was because he never wanted to open up to anyone ever again after what happened in his childhood with "sis".
Some magic was VERY hard to get (Ultima, Aura, Meteor), but some of the magic was VERY cheap (mainly aura...Aura + Squall + Lionheart = death)
FF9, I just couldn't get into it...I didn't like the storyline that much, didn't like the characters AT ALL. It just wasn't a very well done game.
FFX was a very good game, far too linear thou (Alright, go here...now you have to go here...now you have to go here...now you have to go here...now you have to go here...etc) But the storyline is again a return to the amazing FF storylines. I liked how you could customize weapons, and armour. Blitzball was amazing, I liked how you actually played.
FFX2 was...different. Storyline in the end tied in VERY well with FFX. I liked that. They changed up blitzball a bit (made it into manager mode as opposed to player mode) but it was still fun. Gameplay was iffy.
FFXI, I don't consider a final fantasy game. I consider it "World of Final Fantasy" instead.
FFXII, battle system = amazing. characters = amazing. storyline = amazing. Everything about the game = amazing. I would love it if they had like a blitzball-ish minigame or something, but wtv. Definately my favourite game of the series while im playing it.
(Ps, Balthier = the shit)
