Looks really nice. A flare of color for the map.

What about my last comment:

The Cleopatra-Marcus Anotnius area needs to have the color extend downwards on both sides of the bonus number, not just one.

Yes i saw that, i've got to fix that whole area. :)

Hm, looking at those connections.

The gold is a nice colour but I do not think it suits the softer palette of this paticular map. You have alot of grey on this map so I would like to see a light grey option for the connections if that is not to much bother cairns. :)

Also looking at the title again I think that it look be better looking if it was something like this title, only a little less saturated:

Actually, I don't mind that Rome title, although I do think the current one is fine and good. Either oneā€¦

I completely disagree. This isn't the legionnaires and warriors which you associate with Rome. This map is about Roman politics, about the subtle, but just as deadly dealings around the first six emperors. This title is perfect for that.

I also disagree, sorry Gimil; and i agree with InkLOsed. This map is about the Roman Emperors Family's Tree not about Centurions and the like.

The light grey option can be done for viewing to see how it looks. :)

This has come on leaps and bounds since I last saw it...

I like the gold for it's pzazz - and I like the "pink" for it's subtlety...

Not sure which I prefer!

Light Gold - a good color. Gives me a feeling of sunrise falling on the temples for some reason

Brilliant Gold - Very bright, and adds a sense of "fire" to the map. Makes it feel more alive

Pink - Seems too bland, fades out of view when you look at it. Might not be a bad thing, but just not what am envisioning when I think of the map.

Grey - Looks like smooth cement. Maybe add a little texture to make it seem less flat and new.

Debating between the two golds at the moment. Can't decide yet.

This map has really come together nicely... the gameplay looks interesting, it's very legible and with a bit of study not too hard to grasp. It's the all over pale format against the brickish red background and possibly the thick connecting lines in orange that bug me most. Not sure how the corner gods are linked to the family groups either.

I might suggest the background alternating colors behind the family groups
if that doesn't make whole thing visually too busy.

oVo...thanks for posting, haven't seen you in a while. :)
If you read the legend it says that Gods border Emperors but not each other, therefore from that Emperors only have access to the Gods.
I had tried as part of the testing for this the different colour scheme for families but it did not work well. It was very messy.
And there is the added issue that some had two marriages, one each side, so to colour for that would be extra messy.

I think the red background is entirely appropriate with white as these are the colours we so often see depicted of togas - white with the red stripe.

Yes it is bricky, and a bit clunky, but then important Rome buildings were built by may of these people brick by brick. Thus i think it is entirely suitable.

I will put you down in the poll above as liking none of the connections provided.

Though on attack lines (assuming bright gold wins): right now the transition between the lines and the territories is a bit sharp at the bottom edge. What if you applied a gradient so that it's bright gold at the top (where the marriage is) but fades to the territory color by the bottom, where the children area? Is that feasible, or would it be too much work?

Cairns if you do go with the gold connections then I feel you are still moving into the 'Rome: Total War' type theme, which I think a golden title would still be a good way to go in order to compliment those golden connections. :)

Is the Gold taking over the map, and therefore has the foundry got it wrong?
I think so.
As much as people want to see gold, this map is not about briliance of might and power. As has been stated before, it's about subtlty and poison, underhandedness, and death. Armour of gold from might and power doesn't suit this, and therefore I am going to override the wishes of the many and revert to something more subtle.

I won't be going with the gold connections, at least not at that strength.

I do believe desaturation or just a different gold is in order. You summed it up best in the paragraph.

Yeah, the gold is a bit too much all over the map. Did the gradient not work well?

A desaturated god (much like the one in the image I posted :P) I think would do the trick. The different coloured connections ahve definetly added teh character that map was needing.

Yeaaaah, the brilliant gold isn't working for me. The connections have become far more poppy than the terits themselves... I'd rather see you go back to the original than have the gold.

since we're talking emperors, how about a nice royal purple? It would probably have to be lightened up a bit to show up properly against the dark red background, but I think that would be a much subtler and more attractive alternative.
