IQ's

Postby KoolBak on Sat Jan 06, 2007 10:56 am

Sun...that IQ of yours at 186 is an amazing fact....having studied this in college, as I recall, I believe there are LITERALLY only a handful of people in the world currently alive that rate your IQ level.......

Intelligence Interval Cognitive Designation Common Possessors*
85 - 114 Average Pupils at junior high school
115 - 124 Above average Pupils at senior high school
125 - 134 Gifted University graduates
135 - 144 Highly gifted Intellectuals
145 - 154 Genius Professors
155 - 164 Genius Nobel Prize Winners
165 - 179 High genius
180 - 200 Highest genius
>200 "Unmeasurable" genius

As an eye opener, here are a couple facts (LOL!!):

A Canadian television program recently tracked down some of the people with the highest IQ scores in North America. One man who has an extremely high genius IQ works as a motorcycle mechanic, hangs out with biker gangs, and is frequently in and out of jail.

Another man interviewed on the program has the highest IQ recorded in North America. He has worked as a bouncer in a bar for ten years, earns minimum wage, and lives in a tiny garage.

One of my brother in laws claims his IQ is 170 and it is all he wants to talk about - the IQ has nothing to do with it, I hope, but the guy is a total freak...

My "undocumented" IQ has always hovered in the mid 130's when I used to take the tests.....

50% of the population is around 100.......a quarter of 1 percent is genius and above.....

All the varying tests and methods and theories basically agree on one thing - the score is not a predictor of your success in life or your humanity....BUT......MOST highly successful people have been of higher IQ's and MOST welfare folk are of lower IQs......

Very interesting subject-

Sun, my friend - go out and get rich for that pretty little bride of yours! And if I see you running for office, I'll vote for a gun toter any day of the week! LOL!!

I remember seeing this segment. I thought it carried a really good lesson. The smartest guy in NA managed to find real contentment without chasing after riches, job promotions, real estate or any of the other things TV commercials tell us are prerequisites for happiness. It was quite inspirational for an ambition-less lump like myself.

How do you find a good IQ test? Mine ranges between 140 and 160 depending on the test I take (but I'm not really sure how accurate that is because I happen to be good at tests in general).

However, as a side note, I always score off the charts on the 'psychic ability' tests but I'm FAR from psychic... most of the time I can't even find my own shoes. :?

how to make an accurate iq test

Postby speckknoedelsup on Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:12 pm

in every main city of a country there is a so called mensa, some kind of club for intelligent people, you can make a proper test there it is for free.

people who have an iq of more than 150 are much more likely to commit suicide than average people .....

IQ really doesn't mean all that much, all the tests I've seen are very biased towards logical thought, as opposed to creative.

EDIT: And certainties as opposed to probabilities.

kool- I always thought your IQ was supposed to remain relatively constant your entire life (and that it did not depend on the amount of education you received). I guess that is incorrect?

And as for everyone quoting internet IQ tests- I am pretty sure they are not an accurate measure...

I took a test with Mensa once a few years ago out of sheer curiosity, and passed, and now have a Mensa card (though I no longer keep up my subscription).

Load of bollocks, if you ask me, especially if you start reading Mensa's magazines. Always full of a bunch of twats spouting off on every subject under the sun because they think that despite not KNOWING anything, well, if you have a HIGH IQ, that's all that matters, isn't it - your opinion must be worth knowing. I don't THINK so.

Sully...there are many different KINDS of tests...also, children tend to score higher than adults.....your score is always in a state of flux and there are mental exercises one can do to prepare for a real test, especially if you know the type of test questions......

An interesting, dynamic thing that has less credibility now than it used to, so I understand......

If I'm to believe the tests 160-ish. If I am to listen to what one of my teacher's guessed 130ish.

I've never had my IQ formally tested (okay, I once did an online one when I was really, really drunk and got a 156), but having a fairly easy time at picking up a new language at age 32 might say something.

Of course, IQ isn't everything. I've found myself sucking pretty bad at RISK lately. In fact, if you want to increase your score, you'd do well to jump onto a game with me!

But kool, the test is supposed to measure ones intelligence relative to people of their own age right? That's what I thought at least. And if that is true, how would children score higher than adults? And why did your earlier post list a bunch of educational levels for various IQ scores?

I'm sure your score would vary a bit between any two tests, but it should always fall into the same range if the test is done properly. But as you said I am also sure there are things you can do to properly prepare yourself (as is true with ANY test).

i hv taken a few proper ones. At school and stuff all put me 135-145 which is meant to be good. However the internet always put me 160+ so there u are. I find it interesting that a lot of people playing this game are relativly clever and think that might be a reflection on the game.
