He allowed it to be used in the banner, there is a difference.

If a user wishes to post their OWN picture, email, phone number, address, social security number or whatever the heck they want, they can. But posting that information about someone ELSE is not allowed. This site is for users to be anonymous and not to have other people post personal information about them. And getting permission from someone to post information about them is NOT allowed either.

What's up with that? It says you can't post anybody elses personal info no matter what. Even if you get their permission.

I hate to agree with anyone, but GK is right - It doesn't matter if there is permission or not from the user we don't allow personal information to be posted by other users, it's just too easy to say "I had permission".

If you want to push the "ban DaGip" line, then go for it, but you are all also sporting his image which as GK points out, puts all of you in a bit of a pickle as well. Yes, there is a difference between using it in your sig and using it insult, but if you make that distinction, Gip has already been punished for the insult which leaves us at an interesting ethical quandary.

No. If wants others to know, he can tell them (or they can look at his country flag). Personal information is the property of the person, not of you and you have no right to give out someone else's information.

Pointing out someone's flag on their profile shouldn't matter. CC made that information public with showing it. If we shouldn't talk about it, then flags should be removed form our profiles.

Dagip doesn't neccessarily know that is owen. He's not using Owens avatar for personal info, he's using the avatar because that is the only thing that represents owenshooter on this forum. Also the whole clan sig thing brings up a really good point. Technically, that is the same things DM did that gave him a one month ban. He posted info with the persons permission.

Good point. He's not doing anything differently than what you're doing with lackattack. You took lackattacks avatar, the most distinguishing thing we have about him (this applies to every person on CC and their avatar) and then changed it to suit your purposes.

Goodness, I have been waiting for someone to bring up the sig banner. Can't believe it took this long! This is a perfect example of how CC doesn't think through rules before they make them. The whole posting of personal info is too loose a rule to actually be enforced. Any quote (which most users sigs have) of other people is using personal info. Any discussion of any person in politics, music, business is posting personal info. DM was banned for posting something another user asked him to. Someone else (Suggs?) was banned for posting info on Lack, which he found ON THIS WEBSITE.

I say the rule should state: you put it up on CC, it is CC property and fair game (outside of usual flames, obscenities, etc) . You bring it from Myspace or elsewhere, you are breaking the rules.
