Show me where you have read this. It is incorrect. What would be the purpose of additionally averaging by map?
Sorry, please disregard then. I had read something that Porkenbeans had written to high ranked players that were complaining of having low RR scores. He said that aggregation of RR was done by map first, and then relative ranks for each map were averaged together to get the overall RR.
He was saying that if they only played one game on one map that happened to have a bunch of noobs, all they have to do is play that map a few more times with higher ranked players and then the RR for that map won't be so low, so when it is averaged with all the other maps' RR's it won't bring the overall RR down.

GM <= AM - ALWAYS so people's RR would drop even lower.
True, they will drop a little, but the only people that it will drop the most noticeably for are farmers. Also, if you make it a running average, like based on the last 100 or so opponents scores, then I think you'll get less complaints because people know they have a chance to change their RR by seeking out peers for competition.
Again I just want to say thank you so much for implementing what you have, in spite of people complaining. You have done a good job, you have gone about this thing fairly and objectively and it is up to individual players to interpret Map Rank metrics as they will.
