Matchday 13
Thunder Hawks(amino) v Red Stick Cajuns(LSU)
Down Under United(iliad) v TR Clowns (panc)
Norfolk and Chance(ice) v TWAT (lozz)
Emo United (sam) v Redcar Royals (cena)
Game 1
This match sees the all but relegated Thunder Hawks take on the mighty RSC. Should Red Stick win it would end DUU’s (no-one told me I abbreviated it wrong from day 1 lol) title hopes. After taking a lead early on Down Under faded a little and haven’t done quite enough to catch up recently and unless there is an upset here then those hopes are over. RSC’s main rivals to the thrown are Norfolk and Chance who are playing the desperately poor TWAT, so they can’t afford to slip up.

Match Report
The game started off rather slowly as both teams struggled to get up to speed. The first chance came as a result of a slip up by TH. Pederson thought that Dawson was directly behind him so when Quaresma closed him down he back heeled it. Unfortunately for him Bent was standing directly behind him, he turned advancing towards goal. Dawson came in for the tackle but Bent muscled past him before drilling a shot low past Given and the post.
RSC started to gain in confidence as the match progressed and they started to get more and more shots at goal. One of these came on 26 minutes when Clichy played a pass forward to Lucas who picked out the run of Quaresma. The two Portuguese men combined then as Quaresma played a one-two with Ronaldo, when Quaresma received the ball back he curled it round Given and into the net. Thunder Hawks 0-1 Red Stick Cajuns.
Thunder Hawks tried to fight back before half time and got their chance to do so in injury time. Pederson played a pass into the feet of Villa who cleverly let the ball run through his and Ashley Cole’s legs. He then ran onto it and bore down on goal, as Buffon came out he nicked it past him. The ball was running on too far but Villa just managed to get a shot away as the angle narrowed. He had managed to squeeze it between the posts but Clichy cleared it superbly off the line.
You would think that Red Stick, title contenders would make easy work of dispatching the virtually relegated TH once they went one-nil up but this wasn’t the case. Thunder hawks fought back well and started to create a few chances. One of these came just ten minutes after the half time break. A poor pass from Bent gave the ball away to Denilson who picked out a beautiful pass to Villa. David Villa controlled it nicely before playing it on to Ballack who was bursting through the middle, Ballack found himself with an open space and he fired away a shot from 25 yards. It was well struck and only a fantastic save from Buffon stopped it from rattling into the top corner.
TH continued to push forward desperately trying to break down the RSC ranks but they couldn’t really produce much in the final third. RSC had a chance to punish them for their lack of killer instinct when Bent created an opening. Bent held the ball up well allowing Ronaldo and Lucas to come up in support, he then took the ball out wide before cutting back in and laying it off for Ronaldo. The ball was struck fiercely and Given had no chance, shame it went just a few inches over.
As iliad watched nervously and Amino looked to be resigned to defeat, they got one last chance. In the 93rd minute Ballack chipped the ball out wide for Pederson. Pederson brought the ball down before opening up a yard of space to cross the ball, he did so aiming for Villa. The RSC defence had for once failed, Villa was unmarked at the back post and he headed goalwards. Buffon could never have saved it, he dived but.., wait he has saved it, an outstretched hand from nowhere tips the ball round the post. Its official Thunder Hawks are relegated and the title is now a two horse race.
Thunder Hawks 0-1 Red Stick Cajuns.
