FYI everyone.
I will making a video for the 100 maps contest so these maps will most likely be slower to update. Just want to let everyone be aware.

Since you split off D.C., that random star looks out of place. Perhaps move Delaware up some. That would allow you to move Maryland to the right (and slightly up?). This should allow some room to put a graphic such as the White House or Capitol behind the D.C. star.

USA West
I think you should add a road between Kennewick and Pendelton. It's not good to have a region bonus which can be hold defending only one city in such a small map.

normally, u are right: we shouldn't have a region similar to classic oceania on a tiny map. however, oregon is already the only state that is attackable by all of the others. with 4 border cities, oregon will be even more difficult to defend, so i see why there is only one road from washington to oregon.

the south has interstate 80, so we must ensure that things aren't too easy for the southern player in 1v1 games. maybe we can give more variety to the gameplay by letting the map have 4 holdable areas of medium difficulty: washington, oregon, nevada and interstate 80. if we remove a city from oregon and put it in washington, so that oregon has 5 cities and washington 6 cities, then this will make washington slightly less desirable without handicapping the northern player too much, since 5-city oregon now becomes a possible home too. in multi-player games, it also means that the oregon player has some chance of gaining a bonus.

Ok, I know I am johnny come very lately to this posting... but only recently found the foundry and have been reading them to gain insite...

Anyway... love the idea of a set of maps like this...

Only feedback... since I am from Wisconsin... any special reason for picking Montreal?

other than to confuse people who think of Canada? heheh j/k

anyway... by looking at roads and sizes of cities a more appropiate mid point between Ironwood and Duluth would be Ashland it also connects better to Eau Claire... also people in that area would actually go to Ashland .. Montreal is only a flash as you drive through it.. aka blink and you miss it type town

Just my 0.03...

Can't wait to play... :>

ps... wish it was on a better highway... cuz Bayfield would be a great city instead of Ashland... since many people have heard of Big Top Chitauqua (sp?) the radio show and summer music fest held there under a canvas tent...

Tucson is spelled wrong. (Tucson, not Tuscon)
Crescent City is spelled wrong. (Crescent City, not Cresent City)
San Francisco is spelled wrong. (San Francisco, not San Fransico)
Sioux Falls is spelled wrong. (Sioux Falls, not Souix Falls)
Augusta is spelled wrong. (Augusta, not Agusta) x2 - Maine and Georgia
Marquette is spelled wrong. (Marquette, not Marquete)
Plymouth is spelled wrong. (Plymouth, not Plymoth)

Rest looks good.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ashland or Bayfield it is. I will look into the maps and see which one fits the best.

Well I am still trying to get the text down. As I have it here there are two options. Black text with White glow or white text with dark srtoke and glow.
I found the font to the USA map (Courier) and am using that.

I guess I just need everyone input. White or Black? Remember I am trying to tie these maps into teh USA map as much as possible. That is why I would like to go with the black. But I still need discussion and agreement.

I prefer the black text with the white glow.. it gives the map a more Rand McNally feel.

On the Rockies map consider changing Parshall to Minot. Minot is similarly located but much larger.

OK here are the fixes.
-Went with the small black Courier Font
    -Fixed spellings ( I hope)
    -Adjusted Washington and Oregon (WEST)
-Added Capital Building territory marker for D.C. (Great Lakes)

Version 11 Great Lakes
Image

Version 5 West
Image

Still to do (and in order of Doing):
1)I will start to cleanup the other 4 maps now.
    2) Once all SMALL maps are done for GP, city names and placement I will start on the icons
    3) Once Icons are done, BACKGROUNDS
    4) Once BACKGROUNDS are done, Finalize small maps.
    5) After that Large
    6) XML
    7) QUENCH

You have a thing that says Version 5 West and something in img or bigimg tags but I'm not getting a loading image even when I 'view image'

If you make one post with the latest version of every map on it, I will make gameplay comments on all of them. Not saying I'll do it tonight but I might. If not then I'll do it tomorrow.

I think we already did go over every map for GP. But here they are anyway. Thanks Ed.
Some maps my still have spelling errors and cities that have not been switched to their proper suggested names.
I will get to this with the GFX update of each map.

Southwest:
    legend order
      Arizona - New Mexico
      Oklahoma - Arkansas
      Texas - Louisiana
    icons
      Arizona, why not vertical?
New Mexico, try to have at least one full icon visible
      Oklahoma, what is that?
Arkansas, try to have at least one full icon visible

Southeaest:
    legend order
      Tennessee
      North Carolina
      Mississippi
      Alabama
      Georgia
      South Carolina
      Florida
    icons
try to have at least one full icon visible

took me longer than I said but here it is

West: Worries me.

1. Three continents basically the same size and have the same bonuses (currently) but drastically differently situations.

a. Washington - 6 terr but only 1 border. I don't think this is worth 3 when you compare it to Nevada and Oregon. I'd go with 2 but the 1 border thing worries me

b. Oregon / Nevada: basically the same. Oregon borders all 3 states but you can hold both it and Wash. Nevada allows you to get the highway 80 bonus in addition to nevada very easily. these bonuses seem fine.

c. California - again only 3 borders but you've got 8 terr. 5 seems fine.

2. Washington only having 1 border. I don't really like it. Might be good to put a road from Pendleton to Kennewick. Then you can keep Oregon at 3 with the 2 borders and increase washington to 4.

3. highways. the 80 is basically Nevada+++. one more territory and you get an extra +3. too strong? The 5 is basically an end of game only continent. do we want that on such a small map?

Southwest: seems like it works

1. we want oklahoma to be 3 because a bunch of 2 bonuses might not be fun. But, I think adding a border from Boise City to Amarillo makes sense logically (they're just so close) and it give OK 3 borders and 5 terr which seems a lot more like a +3 to me than a 2 border 5 terr continent (also because it only borders 2 continents). Plus it makes the +5 for Texas make more sense right? Maybe I'm wrong here?

Rockies: rockin'

my only qualms are with the Highway bonuse

90 is 7 terr and can be held with only 5 terr but 2 terr if you hold the north
70 is 6 terr and can be held with only 2 terr quite easily
25 is 6 terr and can be held with only 5 terr

but, the bonuses are 7, 6, 5 respectively

furthermore, the 25 is in the middle of the map. it's not going to be added to someone holding an area already. the 70 is going to be very strong for someone holding the south. it's the easiest to hold and should be the smallest bonus. +4

the 90 is the northern power. lots of terr so I'd still give it +5

the 25 intersects with both the 90 and the 70 and will not likely be held by someone dominating an area of the map. it needs a bonus to reflect this. +6

Southeast

Miss - 2
Tenn - 3
Al - 3
Geo - 5
Flo - 5
So Ca -3
No Ca - 3

Too many 3's? I agree.

Al is a 3-4 straddler. A naughty one. What? nothing. I'd like to give it a 4 but being so easy to hold that and Miss - 2 makes me say, "No way I can give an area a +6 with 2 borders and 9 territories when Florida is 10 territories with 3 borders and we're only giving it a +5." Maybe Montgomery to Columbus and it can be a 4? Not sure that's a smart attack route to add though. Maybe add a Memphis to Grenada route and you can make Tenn a +4 and keep Miss at 2. I like that actually. Asheville to Dalton might make sense too. That might make No Ca a 4 simply because it makes expansion harder. plus it's a better route addition to Georgia than Columbus. Florida is tough. 10 terr and +5 but only 3 borders. Not much we can do 'bout that though.

Great Lakes

Minn - 2
Iowa - 2
Ill - 3
Miss - 2
Del - 1
Wis - 3
Ind - 2
We Vi - 2
Ken -3
Mich - 5
Oh - 4
Ma - 2
Virgin - 3

80 is probably worth the same as the 64 and the 70 right? +5 or +6 seems fine.

New England

NY - 6
Penn - 3
NJ - 2
Mass - 3
Con - 1 or 2 hmmm. ok same as Ver so 2
RI - 1
Ver - 2
NH - 2
Maine - 2

feels a bit weird in that West way. We've got NJ, Maine, Ver, NH, Conn which are all +2. Seems unfair to Maine and NJ to be +2 when other places have 1 less terr than you. Oh well I guess you can't do much about it. Should be interesting because of so many tiny continents.

Being a resident of South Carolina, I must disagree with the sailboats as its thematic symbol. The palmetto tree would be right nice, here's the state flag and an actual picture for some assistance on what to change it to:
