roman imperium [cleared and noted]

Postby The Neon Peon on Sun Sep 28, 2008 9:05 am

Accused: roman imperium

The accused are suspected of: Being Multis

Game number(s): not applicable

Comments: Well, new to the site and starthed this thread if you read it, you will see basically that a lot of people began accusing him of being a multi. Thread is not very long, will sum it up either way:
  • name is similar to a new map
  • has beaten a high ranked player
  • just fishy overall

I took the highlights of the thread, sums up all the arguments up, got none of my own really.

waseemalim wrote:so this guy isnt a multi? Sorry if you arent. But let me layout the reasons.

-- His name sounds like one of our (new) maps [I wouldnt be so supicious if he called himself "Classic"]
-- he plays only on that map
-- He defeated osujacket (who, unlike many majors, can actually play)

Again, apologies if I am wrong.

You know of other new recruits who have only played on a brand new map and never on any other? Please show me.

And it is also the name of a PC game

Jeff Hardy wrote:please could you send the link but the game

Game 3346689 Only things I notice about it is that he went first, cashed first, and his opponent either did not attack, or got bad dice on the first turn.

Jeff Hardy wrote:what seemed fake about the thread?

I would assume that it is just that he started a thread about gaining points etc. as his first thread, most new recruits ask things that are a little bit more about how to play the game. I did not say that, just quoting the things others said.

Jeff Hardy wrote:like i said... doesnt seem like a multi to me... i could be mistaken though

It seems that as I think/gather the evidence, it seems less and less like a multi to me, but would still be nice to check. Although at this point, I have nothing more to contribute to the case.

Two explanations:
1. A multi of a freemium member who wanted to play on the new map, but does not have a slot open and is so impatient that they can't wait for one of their games to end.
2. He likes the coincidence with his name, and 5 games on one map is not a lot for that.

When i first saw the thread and his name and the maps he has played on i thought it was a bit fishy but then i just presumed the reason you said above was the reason for it all. But then again it may not. I don't think there is any concrete evidence to say that he is a multi but then again i too have my suspicious so i think a check could be worthwhile.

As someone else pointed out in the viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65031&start=30&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=site+too+late%3F thread: this player has posted a very detailed post, whereas a New Recruit will generally will generally post saying "What's a territory?" or something of the sort, if a New Recruit actually posts in the forum at all that is. And a new visitor to the forum generally posts in the wrong section...

If you would care to check said thread, you should find two posts from "the_mrs"

the_mrs wrote : Well 'himself' told me I should try this game. I have just started and it seems like fun. I like the way the dice appear and it is exciting seeing the number of armies change. I don't think I will get very high in that scoreboard thingy but then I leave that to him.

That was the first post by the_mrs, who then went on to write the following a few days later:

the_mrs wrote : oh dear...so sorry. I didnt mean that person who started this forum thread thing up when I said himself, I meant my husband who is a player on the site. He told me to read the forum so I could see what it was really like. And very intresting it is. and I have played a few games now and they are great fun aren't they.

"the_mrs" wrote this after suspicions were raised that this player may be a multi of the possible multi of roman imperium. These suspicions were made, mostly because "the_mrs" is a new recruit, who posted in the forum, and posted with fair detail on roman imperium's thread.
I don't mean to scare off New Recruits at all but this may want to be checked...and both profiles are from different countries if that matters at all...

To me, the_mrs is not a multi, and just posted on the thread that mentioned being new to the site: being new to the site herself...

That's a brave New Recruit...playing Waterloo
Maybe there should be a restriction on a New Recruit's profile that they can't play Waterloo until they have a rank? Just because the map may scare people off, it's soooo hard at first!!

I'm nearly convinced of that :)
I don't see much evidence that the_mrs is, in fact, a multi...

This has been pending for quite a while, and Fireside Poet is days later than he said the verdict would be delivered. Grim Reaper is right. There is not enough evidence we have, so unless the hunters get some we do not have, it is a simple case.

But other than that, no thoughts.

There is not enough information to pin him as a multi. This shall be noted for now.
