Okay! I'm in this map thread now, too, to go between qwert and anyone that might clash personality-wise with qwert.
It seems like the map is well on it's way to getting the gameplay stamp -pretty much pending oaktown's next visit to the Foundry, so I'll focus on graphical issues. qwert's taken care of most of the problems that regular people have found (or has promised to in his next update), so I assume that what he needs to do to get the graphics stamp is to satisfy gimil on the graphics now.
gimil, going back to your original post of things that you would like fixed, I find these:
gimil wrote:1. Preety much all your borders are inconsistant, well thats putting it nice. I feel they are a mess. Some are blurred, some are sharp, some are bigger than others, some are rather jaggared looking. I think they all need to be redrew from scratch.
This issue seems to not have been fixed for you. You ask that qwert redraw them from scratch, and from making maps yourself, you have to know that this is a lot of work. qwert doesn't see the problem and thus is loath to have to expend that effort.
I am not arguing that changes cannot be made, but I will ask where the problems with the borders are. You said some are blurred and some are sharp, but they all look the same to me in this regard. Of the ones that are bigger than others, the smaller ones are in the inset and clearly set off from the others; I don't think they're a problem, but I'll listen if you do. I don't see any jagged ones anywhere.
I'm not saying you are incorrect, but would you please point out the borders that you find problematic? I cannot find any I think are problematic (and neither can qwert), so it would be helpful if you pointed them out.
gimil wrote:2. The legends is extreamly small and cramped, yet, you have appox. 230px worth of height on your map that you havent utilised. Why haven't you used this space you have left to make your legends a little more managable? Right now text is far to small and everything seems to be touching something else. Very untidy.
This issue was fixed with the new legend, I think. Am I correct? Do you find any more problems with the legend?
gimil wrote:3. The colours used in the central campaign are much to bright and bold compared to the colours used in both western and eastern front. They are a little two discrating to me. I think they need to be desaturated.
I see what you mean. They are a bit brighter and more attention grabbing. If qwert desaturates them a bit in his next update, this will be corrected and not an issue, right?
gimil wrote:4. The stroke around the terr names really isn't very nice to look at, could you work on making it a little less white and distracting?
As previously mentioned by qwert, the stroke has to be there in order to make the text readable. Did you only want it to be slightly less opaque, or did you want it to be another colour?
I think that addresses all of the things you had issues about, but let me know if there are other problems. qwert and I would like to see the map move along smoothly and speedily.
