I would change the bonus to....

SW = 5
SE = 4

Leave everything else... as it currently stands.

Of course, opinions are like anal cavities... everybody has one :twisted:

Hmm, much better, but since he have 32 countries, I really believe that 6 continents is too much, 5 is the better number... you could only put midlands and east together... even why both have more borders than it would be good. Or maybe you could put wicklow in Southeast, making its border reach Laois.

Or, if its the final shape, we can discuss the bonuses, only tell me.

That's an odd suggestion. SW is by far the easiest region to capture, and SE one of the hardest.

How true!

Marv, I played around with breakdown of regions quite a bit, thinking the same as you, but this setup is the best after I looked at all the variations, so I'm going to stick with it for now anyway, so any thoughts on bonuses are welcome.

I want beg you to reconsider it. 6 continents is too much for this map, and although there are small continents, they will be very difficult to hold. Midlands, 4 countries and 3 borders; East, 5 countries and 4 borders; Southeast, 6 countries and 5 borders... these numbers of borders arent good... you will need at least change some frontiers.

Well with all the borders it could be interesting, it doesn't really have to be made for it's easy to hold the continants.

I'd have to agree that probably 5 continents for a smaller map would seem like a more correct route to go. It could be 'interesting', it could also turn out to be a map that lacks decent playability, which would be a shame for such a finely crafted map. We want everything to reflect your hard work, both the visuals and the play.

Marv, I appreciate your feedback, but I don't agree. Not all continents need to be holdable.

I'm going to submit is at is, and we'll see how it plays. Realistically you can theorise all you want about a map, but until you play it there's no reall telling if it'll be good.

Huh?!?! And mainly the small continents, by the way... no need for small and holdable continents, since its a strategy never used :lol: I sincerely believe this is a great error, and it can kill your map. But its your choice, so if you really want, you can test it.

I'd suggest knocking the West down to 2... it just seems a lot easier to hold than the rest.

It's true that it's hard to tell until you play it. People used to print out up and coming maps and play them. The Canada map got that treatment I think, and possibly a few others. I think it'd be a good idea if it was done more often.

You know, just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I'm wrong. I listened to your opinion and considered it, so there's no need for smart comments.
It's very easy to critique something, it's another thing entirely to create it.

qeee1 - I think you're right about the west all right. I'm going to change that before I submit it. Now all the XML fun begins.

I never said you were wrong because you disagreed with me. :) Lots have and to his and her their own. The comment, if anything, was a statement of fact. It is another map we will be play testing, along with a few others, since some maps look wonderful and playable, but they turn out not to be, and vice versa. Many examples exist of both. Taking offense, when none was even there, was rather brash.

Hey, when the map is released what say we have a battle of the Irish players? There's at least 4... and probably some more lurkers...

Andy - I didn't like your tone, but since you say there was no offence intended, I take my comment back.

I meant to say: the map looks really good. For presentation I think it's the best I've seen here.

                  Final Forge

---The Ireland map* has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be two days for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

*(Note: most maps won't go through such a long waiting period as this map and the Space map.)
