I guess you are implying that larger maps = more dice to be rolled = strategy becomes more important than luck.

I agree with this to a degree, but we (our undefeated quad team) have found that the level of co-ordination to maximise the team's potential on smaller maps requires a very very high degree of quality vision and communication, something that I would like to see continued.

Let me put it another way - I would much rather see good "quad" strategy being rewarded, rather than just "trips" strategy with 4 players.

NYC has 80 territories
Pearl Harbor has 72 territories
Texan Wars has 57 territories
Cairns Coral Coast has 60 territories

Maps that are already included are...
CCU has 44
Arctic has 48
Great Lakes has 48

I think the larger maps give a better game when 8 players are on the map.

Well I personally prefer larger maps in quads, but I am surprised that as well as your team has done that you would want to change anything! ;) What I could do though is once we get through the map rotation once, I could add some larger maps instead of going through the rotation again. The only thing though, they won't be Pearl Harbor or Bamboo Jack or any map that not everyone may have played. I don't have any problem with Cairn's Coral Coast or Texan Wars. :D

Now for an update on game results:
Congratulations to Team 13 on your win. You have contributed 5 peeled taters in Aunt Myrtle's pot!

Congratulations to Team 12 on your win. You have contributed 5 peeled taters in Aunt Myrtle's pot!

Congratulations to Team 11 on your win. You have contributed 5 peeled taters in Aunt Myrtle's pot!

Ahem....Pedro, if it ain't broke don't fix it. We're looking at going 4 out of 4 in the 1st Round - the last remaining one being the 'big map' where often it's attrition rather than tactics that win the war.

We have a tried and tested way of winning on the smaller maps - let's stick to those tactics. And do check with your team mates before requesting modifications, there's a good chap :-)

I wouldn't be disappointed to see Pearl Harbor, Bamboo Jack or NYC included though. In a quads team there's bound to be one player who has experience on the map - thus it's all about communication and cooperation.

Benjikat's answer pretty much summed up my thoughts too.

Anyway Marfski...great job on the admin, keep it up :-)

team 7 vs team 11 was an extremely tough game.

We won it at the end.

Please give us the credit for that ;).

team 7 vs team 11 (game 2697997) - team 7 wins (not 11 as was stated).

thx,

Sorry about that! I always appreciate it when people double check behind me, because I am definitely capable of making a mistake here and there. Will fix that right away!
Congratulations to Team 7 (game 2697997) on your win! You have deposited 5 peeled taters into Aunt Myrtle's pot! :)

Also, congratulations to Team 11 on your win in game 2697948. At least I won't have to take away the five taters I had given you before in error, since you won this game.

Dear Auntie Myrtle,

My hunger knows no bounds. Can we get peeling please?

I thought this was the first team to peel 40 taters, so why do we have to wait for the slow peelers? That's their misfortune surely. We're ready for the next 4 games :-)

I read that to mean in terms of number of games played - the randomness of the interaction of various timezones would make it unfair otherwise.

So if Team 4 and Team 7 both win their next series of 4 games who wins?

My interpretation is "First to peel 40" which has no bearing on the number of games played.

Clarification please :-)

(Maybe we have a 'peel off')

We're hoping to get paired up with both of you so as to avoid that possibility ;)

another thought re "first" - there is also a huge variation in the amount of time it takes teams to join games - we don't want a tournament that is decided by that surely!

LOL Pedronicus!

OK, thanks for bringing this to my attention. It does need some clarification. I need to drop the word "first" because of the confusion it has caused. It wouldn't be fair to go on actual time because you have both mentioned different time zones and different players that join slower than others. If it turns out that there is more than one team at the end of a round that has peeled 40 taters the winner will be the team that won in the least amount of rounds. Does that help?

OK, I am off to check on the games and get this thing updated.
