One of the first tournaments that I joined upon finding the tournament section of CC was a joined powers doubles tournament by JesusReignss which was based on an idea from another organizer who left the site and who's name I don't remember.
We only got through one round on that tournament but I was hooked as a player and so, as I reach the date where my premium needs to be renewed, I pay homage to my own tournament roots with a joined powers tournament.
Here's how it works. There will be 32 players. WHen the tournament fills (not when sign ups occur) the players will be ranked 1-32 by their rank on the date that I create the games. THe top ranked player will be partnered with the lowest ranked player. They will play the players who are ranked 16 and 17 in a doubles match.
In round 2 the remaining 16 players will be re-ranked by their scores at that moment so you may (likely) not have the same partner two rounds in a row.
Round 3 will follow with the remaining 8 players and of course Round 4 will be a match up of the final 4.
The maps for this tournament are relatively simple because the emphasis is on the team play rather than on map features.
Round 1 USA
Round 2 Africa
Round 3 Great Lakes
Round 4 Canada
Settings will be flat rate, chained, sequential and sunny
There will be 2 winners but they likely will not play all four rounds together.
In the event that reserves are needed they will just fill in where the replaced player would have been for that round, teams will not be re-seeded at that moment.
