That said I'm pretty sure mol is the abbreviation for mole, and not a real word. I have an Oxford English Dictionary, I'll check it to make sure.

Just to put my opinion in, in Chemistry we've always spelt it "mol". T'is one of the base units.

OK, I just looked it up, there's nothing in the OED with mol. There is mole and molar, but no mol.

Then I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it confirms that I am right.
