Davies 31

After their embarrasing 5-1 defeat to DDU, TWAT were looking to bounce nack with a win against Redcar Royals. Redcar have yet to score a goal and have just 1 point from 3 games, today however is a great chance for them to finally win a game against out of form TWAT. Will Redcar lose again or will TWAT be embarresed once more?

Match Report:
In the early stages TWAT looked fired up and ready to prove that last weeks result was a fluke. Adebayor was on top form and on 16 mins he managed to create an opening, the ball came into his feet and he turned quickly to beat Senderos. He took the ball out wide before cutting back inwards to beat off another Redcar defender, he then chipped the ball into the box and Larsson ran onto it. He took a touch before hitting his shot hard and low, it went staight to Jaaskalinen who cleared it with his foot.

Not long after TWAT created another chance and again Adebayor was at the centre of the move. He played a few quick passes to Lennon and Anderson before recieving the ball back again on the edge of the box. He squeezed throughtwo Redcar defenders and hit his shot towards the top corner. It flew past Jaaskalinen and onto the bar, the rebound fell to Anderson who fluffed his shot wide.

On 34 mins the visitors had a chance to take a shock lead against the run of play. Downing made a tackle on the edge of his own box before clearing it up toTevez, the Argentine took it on his chest and played a through ball to Joe Cole who found himself sprinting clear of the TWAT defense. He ran through one-on-one with Cech and it was the big keeper who prevailed diving low to Coles feet and successfully palming the ball away.

At half time the score was 0-0 and despite the effort being put in by TWAT they just couldnt take one of their chances, Adebayor had easily been the best player on the park but he wasnt getting the support he wanted. The second half started slightly differently with both teams looking quite flat and it wasnt until 20 mins into the second half that the first major chance was created.

Lennon burst down the wing and played a beautifully losted ball into the box. Adebayor, the star of the game so far came through and got his head to it just 5 yards out. The ball soared agonisingly just over the bar, a terrible miss. Despite this miss TWAT got fired up again and started to create a few opportunities.

The next big chance though fell to Redcar Royals. Tevez picked the ball up on the half way line and started to counter-attack after a clearance by Neville. He went past one player and then another, the keeper advanced and lobbed the ball up and over him, the ball looped downwards and bounced off of the bar, Cech ran back and smothered the ball, TWAT escaped luckily their.

TWAT continued to create a few more half chances and forced Jaaskalinen to make some decent saves but it wasnt until very late on the got their best chance of the game. Anderson held the ball up on the edge of the box before he spotted the run of Lennon, he played it through and Lennon passed it first time to the back post. This beat Jaaskalinen and his defense, Adebayor was free at the back post with an open goal there was no way he could miss, or was their? No he scored. The Weird Altrnative Team 1 v 0 Redcar Royals.

CCPL Matchday 4
TWAT (lozzini) 1 v 0 Redcar Royals (cena)
TR Clowns (JR) v Emo United (sam)
Thunder Hawks (amino) v Norfolk and Chance (ice)
Down Under United (iliad) v Red Stick Cajuns (LSU)

Game 2
TR Clowns (JR) v Emo United (sam)

Teams:
JR
Friedel 36
Hutton 23
Carragher 30
Barnes 19
Flamini
Hargreaves 27
Shevchenko 31
McGoldrick 17
Nolan 25
Thompson 16

sam
James 37
Stubbs 36
O'Niell 30
Elano 26
Fabregas 20
Rosicky 27
Torres 24
Todd 29
Mendes 29
Walcott 19

Emo United have had a disapointing start to the lead with no wins and only 2 points from their first 3 CCPL games. Although last week they should great promise with a victory over Norfolk and Chance in the FA cup. TRC have had a more mixed start to the season with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss so far. Both sides will be looking for 3 points as they face at Circuis Park.

Match Report
The game started off with the visitors very much on the front foot. Elano played in Fabregas on 6 mins, the young Spaniard dummied a shot to beat Hutton and then really did shoot hitting it to Friedels left. The American keeper got a good hand to it to push it out for a corner kick. Elano swung the corner in towards Stubbs who flicked the ball onwards to the back post where Torres headed it into the back of the net, great start for Emo United!
Transvestite Rodeo Clowns 0-1 Emo United

Emo United seemed on top form and TR Clowns couldnt get close to them as they played the ball about nicely. It took a bit of luck for TR Clowns to get heir first chance on 28 mins. After some scrappy play in midfield Hargreaves came away with the ball he played through to Shevchenko around 25 yards out a challenge came in from O'Niell, it was a fair challenge but the ref decided otherwise and awarded the free-kick. Hargreaves took it and managed to get it up and over the wall, it quickly dipped at the end and took an awkward bounce before the goal which beat James but not the post.

Emo United took control again after this chance and on 43 mins they got a good chance to extend their well deserved lead. Torres collected the ball just outside the box and waited for support, it eventually came in the form of Rosicky and Fabregas but both were well marked so instead Torres turned and shot. It was saved by Freidel but he couldnt catch it, he palmed it back out and Fabregas excellerated away from his marker and scored with ease. Transvestite Rodeo Clowns 0-2 Emo United

As the second half begun TR Clowns tried hard to get back into the match but were still being out-played by an impressive Emo United who were brimming with confidence after their best first half of the season. On 64 mins they got another chance to extend their lead when a TRC attack broke down. Flamini's miss placed pass fell to Rosicky who cleared it high up the pitch, it landed behind the TRC defense and a race insued between Torres and Friedel to get to the ball first. Torres won it taking the ball round Friedel and smashing it into the net. But the whistle blew he was in an offside position.

TRC seemed to run out of ideas very fast in this game but their best piece of play in the match led to a chance on 76 mins. Flamini slipped the ball through to Barnes, who played a pass into Shevchenko's feet, the striker turned and chipped the ball over O'Niells head to Hargreaves at the back post, he controlled it well and hit his shot ferociously from a tight angle. It was too tight an angle and James made the save.

For the remainder of the game Emo United controlled most of the play creating a few decent chances, both Rosicky and Torres hit shot narrowly wide. In the end it was to be Emo United's first league win of the season.

Game 3
Thunder Hawks (amino) v Norfolk and Chance (ice)

Teams:
amino
Given 31
R. Ferdinand 29
Sagna 25
Ballack 31
Pederson 26
Denilson 20
Berbatov 27
Mellberg 30
A. Smith 27
Viduka 32

ice
Almunia 30

Toure 27
Nani 21
Makelele 35
Gerrard 27
Rooney 22
Hriederson 33
Huth 23
Munn 17
Eduardo 25

Both teams exited the FA cup in midweek and so will be focusing the rest of their seasons on the league. If Norfolk won it would give them a chance to keep the pressure up on league leaders Down Under United, where as a win for Thunder Hawks would take them up to 5 points, the same as what Norfolk are currently on.

Match Report
To say the least todays game was rather scrappy. There were a lot of fouls and a lot of poor passes as both teams looked like the loss in the FA cup was effecting them. Nani seemed to be particularly frustrated with the way his teammates were performing and this showed after he was booked for a terrible tackle on Sagan. Sagna was injured and will miss next weeks game against Emo United. Mellberg came on as a sub for Sanga.

The first chance of the game fell to Norfolk and Chance. Makelele played the ball wide to Gerrad who beat recently subbed on Mellberg with ease, he crossed a decent ball into the box that Rooney headed towards the near post. Given dived low and made a fantastic save to stop Norfolk from taking the lead.

This seemed to give temporary belief to Norfolk who started to create a few more chances the best of which occured on 37 mins. Nani played a long ball forward which Gerrard headed on for Rooney whos first touch took the ball past Ferdinand and through on goal. An easy opportunity for a striker of his calibre but he scuffed it wide how disapointing.

Up until half time not much else happened with Norfolk taking control of the game but failing to create many more chances. In the opening stages of the second half Thunder Hawks were again being out played, they seemed to have had a poor season in attack, Berbatov seems isolated and as a result TH have only managed one goal from 4 games.

They however were given a big chance to turn that round when on 55 mins Nani was sent off for a second bookable offense, he unnecessarily pulled on Pedersons shirt and seen a red card. They immediately fired into action creating a good oportunity. Berbatov made a bursting run up the middle of the park and when Ballack came up to support him he played the ball through. Ballack struck the ball sweetly and only a fingertip save from Almunia denied the Hawks the lead.

Ten mins later they made another opening as Norfolk looked panicked. Denilson this time made the run, he beat both Makalele and Finnan on the left wing before cutting back and playing a cross low along the ground across the face of the goal. Berbatov slid in at the back post but sliced his shot wide of the post that was a great opportunity missed.

Thunder Hawks really started to take control making lots of chances and searching for their first win. On 75 mins Berbatov had a chance to redeem himself. Denilson played a ball into his feet and he turned past Toure, his shot was hit with lots of power and their was no way that Almunia could have saved it. That might have been because it went 10 yards over the bar though.

The away side were enraged to see 5 mins of stoppage time come up on the linesmens board because they new their side was still in trouble. Thunder Hawks piled men into the box as Ferdinand crossed the ball in, it was headed away by Toure but only as far as Mellberg. The defender hit a poor shot that looked like it was heading wide, that was until it took a major deflection off of Gerrard sending in towards goal. The home fans rose from their seats only to see Almunia pull off a fantastic save and rescue his side a point.

Thunder Hawks 0 v 0 Norfolk and Chance
