Just an idea, of course. I'll never be starting it, but if someone decides to take it up, just PM me & I'll be sure to join :)

I was about to suggest something like this.

Perhaps have 2 groups...the Americans and the Soviets. Each with their "Home Map" (I.E. USA and Soviet Union maps).

Then play various rounds on those, alternating Home Map, perhaps with a final or series of final culminations on the soon to be Arms Race! Map, or perhaps even some on Duck and Cover!

2200+ Tripples tournament.

Postby firstholliday on Mon May 12, 2008 3:58 pm

Wouldn't it be cool to set up an tripple tournament for 2200+ players only.. same as Andrew B his doubles but then with tripples.

I just don't have the time but for whomever wants it i think it will be great!!!

I could organize this one as long as there is no probs from the management for the point requirement?

If you keep to the rules, it will be fine. 16 or more players and at least 5 games in total. AndrewB's Doubles tournaments are relatively long and involved, so if you can find the players to fill one of the same format, go for it.

Why the arbitrary 2200+ points? Dropping it to 2000 (which is still a major) would add 300 prospective players. Or, a better idea could be to do something like soundout/blitz did with Triples War where the TEAM had to have a certain total score (like 5500 or 6000).

And what OPie said.

ayeaye, i like total score better personally... I could run 2 simoltanious tournaments, for 6k+ total and 6k-total perhaps...

You just inforce it for when they join after they could drop to 1 and still be in.

I have an idea but don't know how exactly how it would work but have thought through it a bit. It is for those who are good at the public 8 player games. Players must host public games and their Team leader track their kills and wins.

- All players must have all four slots open.
- Escalating cards on all.
- It would need 5 Team leaders and one Tourney Organizer.
- Each Team leader would be in charge of 7 other players who signed up in the tourney. -
- It would be a 40 member tourney total.
- You can name your team unless it is foul or offensive to the average joe.
- Once we have Team leaders, we would start a thread with the 5 others replying directly behind the organizer.
- Each Team leader and the Organizer would get 7 other players to their "Team". By thread response requesting to be on your team. You must OK the person unless there is a good reason.
- Each person in each group would start 4 (or however many) public Terminator games with 8 players on different maps.
- So, each Team would have 24 (or more) public games going on hosted by their Team.
- You are going for the most kills in each game.
- Points for all players are, Two points for each kill and 5 points for winning the game. 21 total possible.
- At the end the total Team points will be tallied and checked.
- The winning team hosts 4 more games listed on a new post by the organizer and they are going against each other in points.
- You may have loosing team members joining in these pretty quickly, maybe even all of them being they will be public.
- Newbies do not count as points.
- Cooks do not count as points.
- Invite whoever you want to join in the games.
- All players can go to callouts and post games for players to join to get higher ranks but this may be harder to beat them also.
- Higher ranks will have better players joining and thus make it naturally fair.
- You just don't know who will join, if they don't make the tourney you can be assured they will be game searching the names in the groups.
- There are many good players who join these type of games all the time so it may not be as easy as you think. I host a lot of them.
- No one in other groups can join in the other groups games. It would be best just to no join any 8 player games for a couple days to make sure, or copy the player list.
- No going on other teams chat and trying to mess up their game by giving moves to the public.
- Every rule broken that gets reported and confirmed is minus 10 points in the tourney.

TEAM LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES
- As Team leader you can coach on moves only in the game chat.
- As Team leader you must post on the game chat beginning "Welcome, you have joined a game within the public games tourney and I hope you enjoy the game. You can see this thread to view this tourney.
- You must list all 7 Team members in your post and put a link to all their games as they activate.
- You must track the points gained by each of your players and post them.
- It will be like having your own little tourney inside of this tourney.
- Team leaders would be decided before the tourney thread began and must have hosted tourneys before and been successful at running them. I have a couple people in mind already.

Well, there is what I have thought up so far. Numbers can be changed and what not. What do you think?
It could be smaller too, just one organizer with 16 players hosting games and what not, but I thought Teams with Names would be cool. The only thing I don't like is the team having to go against each other for a winner to be chosen. I suppose you could just have a Winning Team, or have them battle it out in one 8 player game. What you think eh?

so basically what you are saying is... a team of players, go out and start public games (to be announced to you prior of course to avoid cheating) and public games with random players ends up determining the score?... honestly, i REALLY like the general concept, though i dont know if it will be a real official tournament do to it being public and most players not knowing they are unwittingly participating... but i really do like this idea, a great way to expand to new minds

15 to 1, I'm planning on running this but remembered the rule on 16 players, so the question really is:

Does 16 players mean 16 players that can win? Or does it mean 16 players no matter how few are legible to win

It means you have to have 16 players in the tournament...

I'm thinking about doing a game show series. If anyone is interested in helping I'd love to have you on board!

Here's a tournament idea - it's really the essence of climbing the cc ladder, but here it is:

The CC Entrepreneurship Competition - open to 100 entrants who create a business plan for earning $100,000. Each point earned during the tournament would count as $100, so there'd need to be a cumulative increase in the points of everyone in the business by 1000. To start, you take in say 32 players, not in teams. Then when the list closes, they can form up in any size team up to 8, or even go solo if they want. When the business partners are set, the teams get to play each other any way they like (but, of course, within the limits of cc. The oranizer would get challenges by PM, and set up games. The challenged person need to join if they didn't want to. Each business would need to post up its running total of cummulative poitns won / lost after each match. First to get 1000 points (i.e., $100,000) wins.
My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!

EDIT: Sorry Night- I prolly should've read some posts before I commented. Anyway........

I'd be interested in an extensive triples tournament, like Andrew's Ultimate Dubs one. I think to get more players involved it may be easier to put the criteria at say 5000 or 6000 points per team instead of trying to get certain ranks ie, 3 majors per team.

I just stumbled on this thread by accident-- I'm here to ask if anyone has tried to run a singles tournament with team play included. It could involve all different ranks, but handicapped where the higher ranks would play less games to get to the final. Double elimination tournament. Singles on the winner's side and doubles on the loser's bracket. In a 6 man ESC game, one advances as 5 are sent to play doubles. This format would allow you to gain your points back through team play and also enough perhaps if you were to lose in the finals.

I have no experience in setting up a tournament nor do I have any interest in running one but I'd be interested in playing one in this type of format.

Nothing exactly like this has been run as far as I know. The only thing similar is Godd's The Rescue of Optimus Prime where individuals compete to be the champion, but they have to play some team games along the way.

I've done the opposite with doubles elimination.

You play doubles. But if your eliminated you play singles

Personally, I don't think there are going to be a lot of organizers interested in giving preferential treatment to the players with higher scores and let them get away with playing fewer games in the tournament. The usual mode of operation in tournaments is that everyone plays on the same field, and you have to do just as much work as the other guy to win the tournament.

If anything the higher ranks should play more games to handicap them so it's harder

My Dark Tower tournament that is currently taking entrants has elements of this idea: (1) There are singles, doubles, tripples and quad games on the way to final; (2) there is a round where one player gets a bye, but can still win points if their teammates win.

However, none of it is based on rank but instead will be self/team selecting (or random if they can't decide).

Again, not exactly what you were talking about, but I figured I'd mention it, if not because it's something like what your talking about, then just for a plug.

Here's a link to the tournament: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=55283

Also worth mentioning that in the 1v1 Singles League, there is a 3000+ division where the high ranks play each other, and then only if they want to, get put into the mix in the playoff (i.e., they don't get to compete to win the league, but can still participate against each other).

This is just a general idea that could be implemented with all tournaments. I for one, am not very good at 1v1s, so I have been unwilling to join many tournaments knowing that I would lose in the final round if I made it that far. I also think that there are many other people like me playing on this site.

Basically, my idea is this: have the final round be more than a one on one duel, make it be a 3+ person battle.

I am considering a 3 in a row tournament, where you have to win 3 1v1s in a row to advance, and wanted ideas on tie-breakers if it goes on for a long time.
