Nice update... I'm glad you got rid of the bevel - I'm not sure why people liked it so much anyway.

I like the font/blending on the glaciers - perhaps you could match the labels on the seas to be similar (not in colour, but style).

I don't have any issue with the text on the large map.

              Final Forge

---The Iceland Map has reached the ā€˜Final Forgeā€™ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry Furnace (okay, maybe not) and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

I think pretty much the only concern now is the readability of the territory names. I'm happy with both large & small. Most people seem to be okay with the fonts now. If there is any more concern, please let me know asap. It was hard to get good solid font because the background changes so much from dark to light. I also left the glacier names / ocean names in the small - people seemed to prefer that.

I will begin work on the xml next.

The color of West Fjords appears to be different in the large and small versions...was this done for readability?

Other than that, I don't see any problems with this map. As I said before, I'd prefer the army circles to be moved around, but you wanted them near the actual cities. Since no one else has a problem with this, I guess they're fine as is.

Congrats on getting to the Final Forge!

Okay - I uploaded the correct version overtop of that one in the above post. Should be the same colors now.

Alright, one more minor thing. Two of the army circles (Grimsey and Vestmannaeyjar) are off of their respective islands and on top of the attack line. Could you move them off of the line and onto the water?

Other than that, I'm really at a loss for comments. Get to work on the XML!

Well there's really nowhere good to move them. I don't want them too far away from the islands, and I figure you can't mistake where it attacks if it's right on the line. The dotted line will not show so bad when the army numbers are there. If you feel strongly about the positions, let me know - but i would prefer to keep where they are. I spent a lot of time on positioning of territ names and circles. Thanks. ;)

I think they would be perfectly clear if you were to them as follows:
Grimsey Large - directly south of the island, so that the circle is one-two pixels short of being tangent to the southernmost point of it, with the text either to the west of the circle, or, if that intersects the attack line, south of it.
Grimsey Small - same place as the large, moving the current circle southeast and putting the text west of it or keeping it south, whichever looks better.
Vestmannaeyjar - move it south a few pixels so that it's just off the attack line, but not too close to the title. If this doesn't work, you can put the circle on the east side of the island and the text south or east of the circle, but that would require you to change the path of the attack line. This one isn't as easy a fix :(

It's not really that big a deal if you keep them where they are, but I think it would be more clear if the attack lines weren't blocked. Since Gimsey is a pretty easy fix, I'd move it. Vestmannaeyjar isn't as simple, and the best solution may be as you have it right now.

Thanks Stormur. I appreciate it. Viking also knows a lot about iceland, and helped me rearrange / rename some regions. Your comments will be helpful - but please go easy on me, no major adjustements !! .

Hi there, i really like the graphics on tha map. However you put the oceans on the wrong side, Greenland sea must be on the other side because Greenland is to the West of Iceland. And denmark straight on the East side cause denmark is to the East. The North atlantic ocean would be on the top of the map cause that is North, and if you would like to, the Atlantic ocean is to the South. Thanks....Btw i am from Iceland, not Japan, it just happens to be that i am in Tokyo right now. GummiT

We do in fact have a road that passes south of "Vatnajokull" (hence we got the compass calibrated) so you can in fact have some territories there if you want. I don't know how these XML codes work, but if it is possible to have a territory that is harder to conquer, it would freaking awesome to have the highlands active. GummiT

I appreciate that you are from Iceland, but apparently you don't really know too much about the bodies of water that surround it. Or, maybe Iceland just refers to these bodies of water differently than everyone else? I found many websites that matched RJ's version of things. One image included below.

By the way, North Atlantic refers to the Northern Part of the Atlantic not that the Atlantic Ocean is to the North (which in this case it isn't).

You are right about the Denmark straight, Greenland is a Danish colony. However, he put Norwegian sea as Greenland sea judging by the map you put up. And yes we refer to these bodies of water diffrently, at least when i sailed these seas as a fisherman. The norht Atlantic is still the north atlantic, that can't be to the East of the island.

And here is how we call our coastal waters: http://www.franksingleton.clara.net/ice ... areas.html
