Netherlands final forge on February 2nd 2007 quenched on 24th of January.

China final forge on May 23rd 2007 and quenched yesterday or the day before. whatever it was.

Netherlands the longest time in final forge. Not sure which map was the longest from start to quench though.

Also, congrats again on the quench!

Hehe I actually think the Malta map might hold that record edbeard!

I've recently started a game on this map, and spent ages trying to work out if the rivers/Great Wall were impassable or not, before misdeploying.

I know it's a bit late to mention this, but is there any chance that the impassables can be added onto the legend to stop idiots like me making silly mistakes??

nope sorry not going to happen, it isn't that confusing that the rivers and the great wall are impassable, because there are arrows and bridges, and mistakes are there to learn from ;)

I agree with you, in that I have learnt from my mistake - it is one that I will not make again.

However, I have to admit my confusion was partly due to the impassables seperating regions (ie green/blue)... I was trying to work out how the green region was interconnected, and assumed that the river was passable, as it wasn't designated otherwise.

I'm sure I cannot be the only person who has made this mistake; and it has partially put me off the map. I just feel that it's a case of making a good first impression; and my first impression in this instance is not so good.

There are no issues about lack of space to fit an extra line of text on the legend, so I can see no real reason why this could not be added to the map. You said that the impassables aren't that confusing, but they confused me enough to alter the way I deployed in the first 2 rounds of my game - and a small part of me now wants to suicide the game, as I feel backed into a corner...

um, there are... if i would make the text smaller in the legend it won't be easy to read on the small map, and since 75% of the people who play here play on the small map...

if you look good you can see bridges, so you should think why are they there, otherwise what would be the reason of me putting in the bridges and a big river, i would have made a small river without bridges ;)

Hm, perhaps look into making a quick version of what it would like adding the river as impassable to the legend? You have a little extra space on the left side of the legend, (perhaps make it even distance in relation to the bottom edge).

You could eliminate "of china" from the text: "The Great Wall" and add a little River image and the text: "Rivers" afterwards.

Even though you have bridges, I think the addition could do a lot of help and good.

Sorry to not mention this during the process, but I noticed that there are two adjacent territories that have very similar names: Shanxi and Shaanxi. Can anyone think of a different (but still accurate) name for either territory? It would prevent a lot of misdeployments.
Love the map wisse :)

Indeed, that is somewhat problematic--I was attacking one when I thought I was actually attacking the other! But some of it comes down to reading the map better--but of course, if there is an alternate name...that'd be nice too. ;)

The difference in a name by an extra 'a' isn't enough in my view... I misforted there the other day - I'm just glad it was unlimited forts.

I've accidentally autoattacked a heavily defended Shaanxi, instead of Shanxi... That really got me annoyed, I can tell you...

I've calmed down now, apologised to people in the game for making stupid mistakes, and vowed to pay more attention in future.

Yea, the similar names are starting to piss me off on this map. On top of the ones already mentioned, there is also Jiangsu and Jiangxi.

I'm well aware that I can be more careful... but I shouldn't have to look that closely just to make a turn.

edit: In the game I just lost because of a misdeploy, the game creator said he chose the map because of the similar names in order to get opponents to do exactly what I did.

It might be worthwhile to re-evaluate some of the names for the map, wisse.

Alternatively - it could be a simple XML change that could do it...

I.e. append the Continent name to the end of the territories.
