Im making a 7-a-side football game, i have made a program which calculates football scores between two 7-a-side teams based on a number of different aspects. You may choose which areas to train in, and change about your starting 7 to try and achieve different results. The areas for training are:

Attack
Defense
Pace
Fitness
Team Moral
Set pieces
Discipline
Strength
Passing
Technique

You will get 500 training points per week (sunject to change) and you may place them in what ever areas you choose except you must have at least 20 points in every section and a maximum of 80 points in any one section. It works out that you have an average of 50 points per section.

Here is a full player list of 110 players. This will be narrowed down to 80 for the drafting session in which players will take it in turns to pick players. At the start of every new round of drafting the ordder in which players select will be reversed. We will then enter a transfer window and freindly period, this will be explained in more detail later.

Age is the first number.

You will play each other twice a season. There would be a league table like in normal football and the person with the most points at the end wins. I am also adding an FA cup.

I have added injuries, the older the player the more injury prone they will be, this is the only effect age will have on a player. Due to the addition of injuries i recommend you buy a few extra players in case you run out and i have to supply you with players from your youth team (basically random rubbish youngsters).

After match days i will post match reports good luck and i hope you have fun.

Anything else you guys would like changed? Any advice welcome.

This sounds pretty fun.. is it based on player's actualy performance that season or just stats + random generator or something?

I'd definitly give this a try if you got it running.

Edit: Also some kind of bidding for players would be good at the start rather than picking in turns if possible 8-)

Its based on:
player ability+ what you choose to train in+randomness.
I know it works im just not sure what will happen when independant people decide to pick different settings etc...

Things im working on just now:
players getting injuries
players ability increasing/decreasing accoriding to age
subs at half time
more player ability settings accept overall (im not sure how to do this one as i would have to change a lot about my program)

Im not sure if i can get the above to work or not, but for the moment its based on what i said above.

The current training categories are:
Attack
Defense
Counter Attack
Fitness
Team Moral
Set pieces
Discipline
Strength
Technique
Tricks

Anything i should add or take away?

On your edit, this is possible however there are 60 players and it could take a while, what i could do is go straight into a transfer market period after youve chosen your players. Where you can buy each others players and/ or buy them off of me. Every team mst have at least 10 players though.

Another alternative is i assign you balanced teams and then you go into the transfer window.

Wow sounds like this could be really good.. Some thoughts:

Maybe add home/away advantage
Age thing sounds a bit unnessecary tbh
Injuries sounds good so we get a squad of more than 7 players then?
Players play better with eachother as time progresses maybe. (Could possibly be factored into team morale?)
(I have absolutely no idea how coding works so just tell me if any of my ideas are unrealistic/too hard to put in :P)

As for the categories:

Technique/tricks merged into one maybe
Replace counterattack with pace?
Add tackling and passing?

Good luck hope you get this golng!

Could be done- i like it i will try to add it.

Hmm its proving hard to do but if i take it out the only ting you can compare players on is overall ability which isnt much

Yes it would be at least 10.

to hard for me to put in.

I will merge technique and tricks, i will add passing, tackling comes under defense for now and i dont know about the pace thing as the way ive done it, i will consider it.
Good luck hope you get this golng!

Thanks for all the tips ive tried to answer them above.

Your right, my idea would take too long. I like the sound of going straight into a transfer market alot.

Good to hear you've taken some of my ideas on board :D The thing with age is it seems alot of work for not much reward- it would take a few seasons before it really started to make an impact. Or if you meant factor their age in to how they play, couldn't this just be done using the other stats- (i.e older players would maybe have more discipline but less pace/counterattack)

Yeah you probably right about the age thing, i think i will do some kind of hidden bonus in certain areas like you said. The problem is that the 10 things i listed arent actually from the players ability, they are more of a team ability. So i would have to do some sort of average age thing or plus X amount of points in discipline for having a certain no. of experienced players but also minus Y amount of points in pace/ counter attack.

We should PM pmc and say the mean age of the team, older players and younger players should have different strenghts and weaknesses. Older players would be slower, and younger ones would be quicker, but older ones would be better goalies and younger ones would be worse goalies??????

Im not sure what you mean by that, it doesnt actually play a game over 90 mins it just calculates the scores.

And guys what would you prefer for peoples names?
Real footballers names.
Random names.
CC peoples names
Funny names.
or a mix of the above?

As for cheating i could add it in for the match reports i.e if you put it really high you will score via penalties through diving and by wrestling the keeper to the ground etc. If you put it really low your teams will be more likely to concede goals late on because you wont take it into the corner. It wouldnt actually have an effect on the score it would just be for fun.

Your in Iliad thanks everyone for joining and giving advice, i think i will change the poll to ask about the names.

Ice thats the problem with using real names, then i would have to look up everyones age and guage their ability if thats the way you want to go id need help, however if its just random names or whatever i can do it myself.

Also ive just noticed a problem with my program it can currently only handle one formation, i may be able to extend this in the future but for now its stuck on 3-2-1. Is there a formation you would prefer? I can easily-ish change the formation but everyone will have to use that formation.

What league(s) are the 60 players being drawn from?
im not sure yet i dont even know if we are using real players. and it will be 80 players now as ive extended it to 8 players, and then i will need around another 30 you can buy in the transfer window.
