hmmmm I find it hard to believe that a 747 could clip a private Jet and the pilot of the Jet not know what hit him. Was he sleeping? How could he not see something as big as a 747 approaching his plane? The article stated that after they landed at the military base they sat around talking about "what they might have hit". If I was on that plane I'd be questioning the pilot who must have been sleeping at the wheel.

wow..that was intense....can't believe a 747 didn't make it through that crash and the private jet made it..and ya...wouldn't the pilot see the plane from a distance?
It's like this, one was going aprox. 500 miles an hour the other 400. There is quite a bit of sky to look at compared to this usually large looking aircraft. They are a little more difficult to see than you're thinking.
Most of the time when the controlers tell you there's traffic near you it takes between 30 seconds and 5 minutes to see it. No one told them it was there so they had no reason to be looking for it. When it came up it didn't take much time.
