Extra Information
Description
This will hopefully be the first tournament of 2009. I will be taking unlimited sign ups, but only 56 will make it through to be apart of the 2009 Winter Guilds.
Game Play
Since this tournament is taking unlimited number of players, the game play for the cut to 56 players may change.
Qualifications (Part 1) - The Cut
Since there are unlimited players that can sign up, we must cut it down to 8 players, these 8 players will become the captains and pick their guild.
For the first set of games, all games will be 6-player. Depending on the number of players that sign up you will either have to win all you games, finish in a set position, or join game before all the spaces are taken.
I will continue to cut players until there are 8 players.
The map will for these games will circle through the Acceptable Map List (See Below)
Qualifications (Part 2) - The Choice
For this round the game will be 8-player.
There will be one 8-player game to decide the order the captains pick there Guild. The player that wins picks first, second finisher picks second, and so on.
It is now time to start the Guilds. The eight players that made it through “The Cut” will be a captain of their Guild. This means that they can pick the players for their guild, only players that have signed up for this tournament, the name of their guild, and the Home Map (The maps will be from a list I created, which can be viewed at the bottom of this post). Once 8 guilds have been assembled, we will be ready to begin.
If any guild has a deadbeat, the leader may pick someone from the group who signed up, to replace said player.
Guild Wars (Part 1) – The Opening Step
For this round all games will be 8-player.
The War has began. It won't be easy, but you have taken a step on a long and deadly path to victory. Each guild will go up against the other 7 guilds at the same time. Each player will play 8 games against each opposing guild, and each guild will be represented in each game and each home map will be played. You will be randomly matched up against players from the opposing guilds.
The four guilds with the least amount of wins will be removed.
Guild Wars (Part 2) – The United Front
For this round all games will be Doubles.
The war escalates, and you must now put up a united front! The captain of each remaining guild will split his guild into four detachments (2 players). Two of the detachments will be solely on there home map and other two detachments will play solely opponents home map. (You still fight as one Guild)
Each detachment will play 5 games against a single opposing guild detachment.
(e.g. Guild 1 vs. Guild 2 and Guild 3 vs. Guild 4 and only those guilds will play each other)
The two guilds that win the most matches move on.
If there is a tie between matches, the Guild will the most wins, will move on.
Guild Wars (Part 3) – The Fatal Meeting
For this round all games will be 2-player.
It is time for a meeting between the two surviving guilds to decide who will be the Victories Guild, and who will be removed. Only two players and three battles will decide this. Each guild will decide who they want to put out to do the fighting. The captain can decide by himself or ask his guild for advice. Most importantly the captain has the final say. The player to get nominated will face the other nominee. They will play 3 games, one on home map, opponents home map, and a random map that was played in “The Cut”.
The player to lose 2 games will be removed along with their guild.
Internal Struggle (Part 1) – The Rebellion
For this round the game will be 7-player.
The guild is falling apart. Each man wants to be in control but they must defeat their leader. One 7-player game between the guild, excluding the captain, on the Guild’s home map. The winner will move on to face the captain.
Internal Struggle (Part 2) – The Last Fight
For this round all games will be 2-player.
The rebellion is at its peak. It all hangs on one final battle between the Captain of the Old Guild and the Rebel Leader of the New Guild. Five games will decide the winner and the Winner of the “2009 Winter Guild Wars”.
