This tournament is (as far as I know) a new style of tournament on Conquer Club - although correct me if wrong. The principal is simple. The first player to sign up is the Defender. The next five are Challengers. The Defender will choose a map to play on, and the six players will play a game. If the Defender wins, he has one win in his streak, and once again, chooses the next map. If a Challenger wins, they are the new Defender and chooses the next map. Again, the first five players to challenge will play. When a player reaches a streak of 5, they win the tournament. A Defender cannot pick the same map twice in one streak. A streak ends when a Defender is beaten, and their count starts from zero again. If I decide the tournament is dragging on, I may lower the required streak. Only wins made by a Defender count for a streak, so beating a Defender doesn't count towards your streak. Settings are: Standard, Freestyle (to speed the games up), Flat Rate, Chained, Sunny. The games are NOT 1v1. Each game has six players in.
Due to the nature of this tournament, players will be constantly signing up, so when this thread is moved to Ongoing I shall create a separate thread here for challenging. Players who sign up will be placed in the first available slot - not necessarily the next game. This means that players may have a small wait until their game begins. Also, there is a small possibility that the game you sign-up for is not played, if someone wins in the meantime. You may challenge as many times as you want, but only one challenge may be outstanding at a time, so to register for a second game you must finish the first. Also, no player may challenge two games in a row. Hopefully these rules will mean that as many players as possible get a chance to play.
May the best man (or woman, or bug-eyed monster) win!

I must sadden you but minimum players per tournament is 16 (according to Tournament Handbook - check top of this forum).
Also, another sad news is that something similar has been tried before (sorry, too tired to look up the thread right now but I might look tomorrow)... I think it failed. Though it was a bit different with 16 maps (so 16 defenders) and to win the tournament, there had to be winning streak of 16.
I'm sure that with some thinking you can change it to get your minimum number of required players and I wish you best of luck doing it!
Also, I'll be the first one signing up if you meet the tournament requirements

Right, thanks for the feedback.
Erm...
I'm off to have a shower, back in a bit, will come up with a solution. Possibly have several Defenders at once...

Players will consistently be signing, so as long as he has more than 16 at the beginning he's fine.
If you are talking about Bring It On! amazzony, I think that tournament is a great success.

Right then, I had one idea, but then saw Gilligan's post. So what I shall do is this. To begin with we shall get 16 players. They'll be four games of four, with the winners going into a final game of four. The winner of that will become the Defender. From then on the tournament will be exactly as I described. I shall sign amazzony up for the qualifying, and ask Gilligan if he wants to play or not.

Nope, not about Bring It On (I'm quite familiar with that and I agree, it is a great success), this one is different (if I understood it correctly). I think Mr. Adams run the one that I'm thinking of (I can't even remember the name of it sadly).
Anyway, currently he is planning to start with 6 players so that's why I butted (?) in.

Thanks for adding me. This is a good idea
EDIT. Here's the tournament that I was thinking.

I'm a little confused...
Basically, if you lose your first round game, you are out of the tournament altogether? Only the winners of the first games will have a chance at the crown?

No, the qualifying games are just to decide the first Defender. After that anybody can challenge.

Ahh.... I hate to be a nit-picking person, but I got something else...
How will the order of challengers happen? Is it just who comes first?
By the way, I don't think I'm in, I'm not a fan of freestyle.

OK, you're not in. Fair enough. I would make it Sequential but I like to keep things moving.
Again, yes, the Challengers are in order of arrival. However, if you think its a good idea, I could say that you can't challenge two games in a row, so that it gives other people a chance.

I think that freestyle 1v1 is very unfair to the person who joins first... but I think that chained will calm it a bit... anyway, think about seq (i'm still in anyway).

Yes, I would do that.

also does it have to be flat rate also and what about sunny (i like esc and foggy since with 4 people non-esc can go forever if everyone is a good player on a big map) (i dont mind freestyle though)

TO CLEAR THINGS UP - the five Challengers and the Defender are all in the same match. Not 1v1. So not only are you against the Defender, but also four other Challengers. This will possibly lead to some more interesting games, as it means its not about taking down the Defender - you have to win the whole game!
The only reason its not Escalating is because a lot of people say that it makes the game unfair. It does bring the game more of an element of luck, whereas this tournament is about skill. Its Sunny simply because its more traditional.

Sorry about the double post, but I've just checked the tournament handbook. It says:
a) that you have to have a minimum of 16 players. It doesn't say when. I'm expecting at least 16 players to participate in the tournament overall, so I'm taking this to mean that as long as at least 16 players take part across the tournament, its fine.
Also, it says:
b) In the note it says that there can be some exceptions which will possibly be accepted.
So, I'm going back to the original format, and amazzony is the first Defender. When I request privileges I shall just explain the situation to them.

I don't think that you will get privileges if you have less than 16 players but you can give it a shot, maybe they will accept your different format

He'll have more than 16 players eventually. The winning defender has to play 5 games against 5 opponents. It's just a matter of getting people playing.
I'm in.

Thanks for joining, BaldAdonis.
Only three more players and we can start! I suppose that's a major advantage for this tournament - gets off the ground quickly! I hope it goes well, maybe do a sequel - it just attracts me, the idea of maybe, in the future, being able to write: "Hold the Fort II".
However, I am going away on holiday tomorrow until next Saturday or Sunday. See you then!

I'll join, it sounds interesting, but you have to make sure people don't forget about the tourney and come back to join a new round on the forums.
