Yeah, it's this guy again. *collective groan*
I will point out that I do not have the best track record with tournaments. That was 5 years ago, though, so hopefully enough people give me the benefit of the doubt...
Regardless, the tournament will work like this, with 64 players trying to prove who can conquer Classic:
All matches will be played on the Classic map. The settings will be: Automatic, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, Sunny, No Trench
Divisions will be determined by random.org.
All games are 1v1
Group Play
There will be 4 divisions of 16 players. Within each division, there will be 4 groups of 4 players. Every player will play the other players in their group once. The top 2 players in each group will move on to the elimination round of their division. Ties will be resolved as follows:
1. Head to Head
2. Tiebreaker game(s) as necessary (in the event Team A beat Team B who beat Team C who beat Team A)
Elimination Round
Once all group play games have finished, the elimination round in each division will begin. Each player will play one game against their opponent in the bracket. Winners move on, losers are eliminated. Seeding will be determined by:
1. Most wins in group play
2. Least amount of rounds to win
3. Coin Flip (for 2-way)
4. Random.org (for multi-way)
Championship Round
The four divisional winners will move on to the championship round. Seeding will be determined in the same way as in the Elimination Round. A single game will be played between the two pairs of semi-final opponents. Winners move on to the championship, while losers move on to the consolation game. As an added bonus, 1st and 2nd place are reserved spots in an eventual meetup between the top two of each tournament (yes, this will probably become a series of tournaments across different maps).
