Not everything in life is out of our control. We influence everything around us, and the other people around us have influence in our lives, too. So I present the Life Ain't Fair: Exert Some Control tournament. Every setting will be randomized, including how many players in each game, but everyone who signs up will influence all the setting selections. Each player will play 3 games (5 in the final two rounds) in each round, and be awarded points based on how many people s/he beat in each game. The top half (by points) of the field will move on to the next round. Points will not carry over from round to round. The final round will be the first round with 4 or less players remaining. Freemiums welcome, but must keep 3 slots open for this tournament. I will user random.org to generate the randomness required for this tournament.
If any freemium players make either of the final two rounds, 3 games will be sent out to start those rounds, then the other 2 as possible. If no freemium makes it to those rounds, all 5 games will be sent out at once.
Number of entrants: Any, minimum of 16
Map: Random, weighted by participants' selections
Number of Players Per Game: Any allowed choice, randomly selected, based on what makes sense for that game (quads game can't have 7 people, if there's only 6 people left to be assinged, etc)
Game Type: All of them, randomly selected, weighted by participants' selections
Play Order: Either sequential or freestyle, weighted by particpants' selections
Troop Deployment: Either manual or automatic, randomly selected, weighted by participants' selections
Spoils: All choices, weighted by participants' selections
Reinforcements: All choices, randomly selected, weighted by by participants' selections
Special Gameplay: Maybe foggy, maybe trenchy, randomly selected, weighted by participants' selections
Round Limit: 20, 30, 50, or 100 rounds, semi-randomly (see Minutia section) selected, weighted by participants' selections- "None" will not be an option, I'd like to be sure this tournament ends eventually.
Round Length: This is the only option that will not be randomized. No speed games.
You may select any preference of any of the above settings, save round length. There is no guarantee you will see all, or any, of your setttings in any game, but as you progress, your selections become more likely. If you list no preference for a setting, I will assume your preference is "random" for that setting.
TL;DR: Join tournament by posting in this thread in the usual manner. If you wish, select your preferences of any game settings (1 selection per setting, please) - your selections will influence the randomness. Score points by doing well in your assigned games
