If you attack and somebody attack you, you defend, with what is left on the territory, and since you must always leave one (you can't EMPTY a territory), you will always get that chance to defend. If this tournament runs smoothly, I may try one with nuke cards later

At the beginning of the game, each player will receive a territory. I will send you a picture of the map, as if you were playing a single battle royale game. You will choose a territory (or territories) to attack, and a number of armies to attack with. You can auto attack, in which case you will have as many games as the attacker has armies, or you can choose to attack, in which case there will be as many games as you specify. (basically, we are playing a game of risk, replacing dice roles with games.) Now, this would be sorta slow if it were just a bunch of 1v1, SO, if TWO players attack the SAME territory on the SAME turn, they will play in a THREE player game, and the two losers each lose an army. (or four or five where possible).
At the beginning of each turn, you receive troops to deploy, which means more attacks possible. You will pm me, telling me where to deploy them. I'll go ahead and deploy everybody's 3 for round 1, since there will be only one place to deploy. After that, you tell me what you want where. In order to get a card, you must take a territory. (so, no cards until somebody is eliminated!) You can cash and steal cards just like in the normal game, for eliminating players. The goal is to take over the whole board, and win the game. As usual, you must leave at least 1 army in your territory when attacking, so if you and another person each have 6, you can only attack 5v6.
Diplomacy: I will create a thread in the callouts for this tournament, in which diplomacy may be made for the tournament board. (ingame diplomacy stay, well, in game...) However, the thread isn't a restriction! You can conduct SECRET DIPLOMACY ON THE TOURNAMENT BOARD ONLY. (that is, not an actual, numbered, CC game.)
good luck to everybody, and have fun.
THERE WILL BE NO BATTLE ROYALE GAMES.
So, if you are red, you will receive THIS image, and tell me who you wish to attack:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
If you attack, and somebody else attacks you, you have left your territory unprotected, and may lose that territory. so, if red moves five to attack blue, and cyan moves 5 to attack red, red must win against one or the other, or lose that territory!
amazzony wrote:Basically you have to be ready to deal with the tournament almost every day for a year. You might consider trying to make the tournament as simple as possible, cut players/territories whereever possible and finally use settings that make the games move the fastest (esc/sunny, maybe freestyle for 3+ player games). Also, make preparations as much as possible, try to automate your excel sheets (if you use excel) and make sure you have a very good system to track everything.
Mr_Adams wrote:thanks for pointing that out. We'll figure out how to make it work.
DJENRE wrote:maybe u could write your intention in a pm that u sent to other players with the title :"DO NOT OPEN : Round1"
Then you check your outbox, if the pm moved from outbox to sendbox, it means a player has opened your pm.
Can be a solution to keep in mind.

First of all, I LOVE this original idea - really neat. But I do have a question. What happens in your "three player instance" if one attacker wants to auto-attack but the other attacker doesn't? Wouldn't it make more sense to actually have the tournament move "one at a time" just like a sequential game would? In other words, the red player makes his move (and thus plays that game or those games), then the green player makes his move, etc...
I recognize that would take considerably longer, but it might avoid that particular pitfall as well as the "your advantage" pitfall you mentioned.
But great concept, nonetheless.
