New tournament thread: Pratchett Invitational Tourney
[/edit-Lx]

Synopsis:
A 32-player elimination tournement featuring a variety of settings and maps. Freemiums are welcome, but must keep one slot open for the tournement.

To Make A Short Story Long...
I thought my first tourney was going to be a music themed tourney (I will do the Y-Pod Shuffle at some point!) but instead I am developing my tourney chops with a literary themed tourney, devoted to the works of Terry Pratchett, creator of the Discworld. (If you haven't read his stuff, go and do so now!) There will be six rounds. Players will be randomly sorted into games, the maps picked because they seemed thematically appropriate to me. Each of the first five rounds will elimnate some of the players, and then offer a chance on the Discworld map for eliminated players to get back into the tournement. The sixth round will also be on the Discworld map, and determine the tourney winner.

Round 1: The Bromeliad (32 players)
show
This trilogy (Truckers, Diggers, and Wings) about gnomes draws its title from a type of flower in the amazon rain forest and a type of tree frog that lives within the huge flowers and only rarely learns that the world is much, much bigger then a single flower just as the gnomes in this story learn the world is much, much bigger then they knew. So the first round map is South America in homage to that beautiful flower.
Four 8-player terminator games. South America. Automatic/Flat/Unlimited/Sunny. Final 5 advance.
2nd chance: Two six-player doubles games. Discworld. Manual/No Spoils/Chained/Foggy. Winning teams back in.

Round 2: Good Omens (24 players)
show
A humorous accounting of the apocalypse, complete with an angel and a demon who like the world the way it is. Since the end of the world is a narrowly averted nuclear disaster, it is time to Duck and Cover!
Four six-player doubles games. Duck and Cover. Manual/Escalating/Adjacent/Foggy. First pair eliminated is out.
2nd Chance: Two 4-player standard games. Discworld. Automatic/Escalating/Chained/Foggy. Winners back in.

Round 3: Only you can Save Mankind (18 players)
show
The first Johnny Maxwell adventure, Johny finds an actual alien invasion inside his computer game. So tourney players must head into Space...
Three 6-Player Standard games. Space. Manual/Flat/Adjacent/Sunny. Top 3 advance.
2nd Chance: Three 3-player Assassin games. Discworld. Manual/No/Unlimited/Sunny. Winners back in.

Round 4: Johnny and The Dead (12 Players)
show
Johnny and his friends must cope when the Dead start talking to Johnny. Halloween Hollows is the only map spooky enoug for this!
Two 6-player Triples. Halloween Hollows. Automatic/Flat/Unlimited/Foggy. Losing Teams eliminated.
2nd Chance: 6-player terminator game. Discworld. Automatic/Flat/Chained/Sunny. Top 2 back in.

Round 5: Johnny and the Bomb (8 players)
show
Johnny has to deal with a crazy old lady, time travel, and a german WWII bomb that is not where or when it is supposed to be. The bomb in the story is is non-nuclear, but Arms Race seems like a good map to go with that title anyway...
8-player Quad. Arms Race. Manual/No/Adjacent/Foggy. Winning team advances.
2nd Chance: 4-player assassin game. Discworld. Automatic/Flat/Adjacent/Sunny. Winner back in.

Round 6: The Discworld series as a whole (5 players)
show
This is for all the marbles!
5-player standard. Discworld. Automatic/Escalating/Chained/Foggy. Winner wins!!!
