It’s an election year, so I created this tourney to explore how the numbers game in the presidential race – the primary delegates and the electoral college.
I’m NOT looking for political debates during game play or in the tournament thread. In that effort, I’ve created a fictional campaigns of some of our cutest Muppets
We’ll have 10 teams (three players on each team).
This tournament will be played in two phases.
PHASE ONE: THE PRIMARIES.
Teams will compete across all 50 states AND the District of Columbia.
Each member of the team will compete for votes across 15 states.
In order to enhance the team aspect of this tourney,
The six Super States (noted in purple on the list) with the most votes at stake will feature each member of the team in a 1 v. 1 battle, along with a pair of triples showdowns.
For the bulk of the states ... The battle will be played on a correlating geographic map to that region and will include a four-match round robin on 1 vs. 1 games against the other candidates, along with one 4-player match.
Settings for the 1 vs. 1 battles will be flat, chained, foggy
Settings for the multi-player battle will be escalating, chained, sunny.
20-round limit for all games.
Votes are gained by troop dispersal during each game. Win the map in a landslide and you’ll garner a greater advantage in the voting booth. Win a hard-fought battle and your voting margin will be smaller.
Accrual is capped after the 11th round of play to protect against stuffing the ballot box.
(for 1 vs. 1 play)
A player who wins in 6 rounds or less will add a 50% bonus to their number of votes.
Win in 8 rounds or less and it's a 25% bonus
Win in 10 rounds or less and it's a 10% bonus
Win in 11+ rounds or less and it's a 5% bonus.
On the multi-map
Earn a 5% bonus for every opponent you eliminate.
Earn a 10% bonus for winning the multi map.
In 1 vs. 1 play if Player 1 kills Player 2 not allowing Player 2 a turn in the kill round, votes for the attacking player in that round will be reduced to 33 percent.
The primary maps will be played state-by-state in the same chronological order of the real primaries.
Win the popular vote in your state and you will earn a guaranteed # of delegates (33%). The remaining delegates will be divided proportionally among all candidates that garnered at least 20 percent of the vote.
The winner in each party advances to the General Election.
Here is a look at the states at their Primary delegates (Phase 1) and their Electoral values (Phase 2 ... General Election)

PHASE 2: THE GENERAL ELECTION
Play is similar to the primaries with one exception. A state’s Electoral Votes are winner-take-all.
Also, the order of play will resemble election night rolling from the East Coast across to the West Coast.
Regular states will see a 3-map 1 vs. 1 battle between one player on each side.
The other two members of the campaign will match up in a doubles game.
We will be adding six Super States ... Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia ... to the original mix to bring us to 12 Super States.
These will feature three 1 vs. 1 battles along with a triples showdown.
The team with the most total Electoral Votes wins the election and the tournament.
