So Season 13 kicking off. Very early days still, but as Ive reached league 2, Im going to go ahead with some commentary on my own league and attempt a briefer commentary of League 1.
Not much to say at this point beyond guesses and innuendos. - Or a bit of banter perhaps.
League 2 Prelude.
For a little fish like me swimming up the stream, its starting to look very interesting indeed. League 2 is full with no rests and most of the players come with a rather long list of league titles or for a couple of early starters a shorter list but with some of the big 3 leagues in it. Its time for everyone to take off their gloves and get bloody and dirty.
The home map choices are interesting by themselves. With Devante, 2nd seed, changing to City Mogul, theres a double Mogul in play in League 2. Im supposing this will see me and Devante skipping happily through Mogul throwing fresh cut flowers in the streets and all that. - Or not. I wonder how much blood will fit into those streets and who will lay claim to the city that is Mogul... We will soon get at least some answers to the questions as Devante is taking me on at home and has 2 first turns on Mogul to try to bend me over and... - well, I digress. In any case its unnerving to have the second seed pick what Ive come to consider my map and my city and I will fight for it. For starters, Ill of course be happy, if I can tip one of those second turns into a win, but its going to be exciting to see what happens.
Matt2007 is on Salem for his home map. - An interesting map where knowledge is power and key strikes may well carry the day, though dice will of course have their say, especially in the intial couple of rounds where the game is likely to tilt heavily one way or the other if theres a difference in the dice.
GeeksAreMyPeeps on Conquer 500 which Ill have to study up on. - Its one of those maps that I cant really say Ive cracked and Im expecting it to be uphill as its another intricately balanced and knowledge is power map.
aaronvollrath in Forbidden City. - Probably one of the less complicated maps in the mix, but very large and packed enough to require comprehensive perspective to keep up with smaller and bigger bonus options all around the map.
Runeldo and Nimrods Son pull another double with Baltic Crusades. - Again an interesting map with some tricks and balances to contend with.
Wizz00 on New World. Its one of those maps, that I understand, and I think I know it. - But do I really KNOW it. Not so sure that Im playing the balances right, and I have the feeling that an expert can pull a lot of extra win chance against a player with less experience.
uyumaykimaw in Fractured China. - Right off one of the less complicated maps as well - at least when it comes to understanding it. - There are however a lot of barriers and one ways, that I assume can be put to advantage and a few balances of how much to focus on different ways to gather up deploy.
Killerz999 in Stalingrad. - One of the scary maps for me. - Big initial deploy and lots of bombardment option makes for a potential lethal first turn round 1 where good dice can decimate the opponent. - Coupled with a couple of key things to battle control over and some balances that tilt quickly and easily, it can be over before it really begins or make for a long stamina eating battle.
In any case the trophies and map choices confirm what we know. - The leagues get harder and the players more serious as we move up and Im thinking that Im where it gets really intense now. - No more of the occasional match with extra chances to close games or get back into them with an opponent that might occasionally play quickly and make small but regular mistakes that shifts the winning chance a little or a lot in your favour. Now it gets real
