All right boxing fans, this tourney is based on the Mike Tyson Punch-Out video game series.
Pick your boxer and we'll see who comes out as champion.
Prizes
500 CC credits for the tourney champ.
100 CC credits for any player who is able to hold the championship belt during play.
Tourney:
1 vs. 1 play ... no poly, no freestyle. Other settings accepted.
Stage 1
We will start with 18 boxers, who will each fight 8 bouts
After 8 bouts, we will get rid of the tomato cans
The top 12 in prize money will advance to Stage 2.
Stage 2
Everyone will fight 4 more bouts (for 12 total)
At the end of this stage, we will cut down to the top 6 boxers on the money list for the Finals.
Finals stage -- The contenders
The top 6 will compete for the championship belt.
This stage will start with the #1 and #2 on the money list fighting for the belt, while #3-#6 will fight to jumble the rankings.
After one cycle of matches, the rankings will be resorted based on results and the #1 contender will fight the champion in the next batch.
Winning the tourney --
There are two ways to win this tourney.
Defend your championship belt three consecutive times OR
Win the championship bout five times total.
SCORING
The boxing bouts ...
In stage 1 ... bouts will be 8 rounds (a map = 1 round)
In stage 2 ... bouts expand to 10 rounds
In the Finals stage ... the championship bout is 12 rounds ... the other bouts are 10 rounds.
Win your map and you win the round (10-9 score in boxing lingo)
A couple special rules ...
Win ANY map in 4 rounds or less and you've scored a KnockOut ... bout is over.
Win in 5 rounds and you get a 10-8 score on TWO of the judges scorecards
Win TWO maps in 5 rounds or fewer and you've scored a KnockOut ... bout is over.
Win in 6 rounds and you get a 10-8 score on ONE of the judges scorecards
Win THREE maps in 6 rounds or fewer and you've scored a KnockOut ... bout is over.
Win in 13+ rounds and it's a split round. Winner gets 10-9 score on two cards, and one judge gives a 10-9 score to the losing boxer.

Prize $:
Each bout will have a unique prize $ purse that is at stake, depending on how the boxers are ranked.
Win by KO and you receive 88% of the purse.
Win by unanimous decision you receive 65% of the purse.
Win by split decision you receive 57% of the purse.
If the bout ends in a draw then the purse is divided 50/50.
