Update

All games in Round 2 Set 1 have commenced! The competition switches into another gear, as 11 of the 16 remaining players will be eliminated at the end of the round - which is more than two-thirds of the remaining players.

There still is 1 game ongoing from Round 1, but the placings and advancements from Round 1 are mostly settled.

ESQuire takes a huge lead at the top of the leaderboard with 100 points at 16 kills. While he has the same number of kills as the next best player, his point totals are elevated by being the only player who has been able to have a clean sweep of all kills on his home map. Most of his opponents in Round 1 have since been eliminated, so it'll be up to a new crop of players to see if they can stop his dominance on his home ground.

Behind him, the 2nd- through 5th-placed players are in tight competition, with less than 5 points separating the 4 of them. TX AG 90 currently settles back in 2nd place after shooting to the top of the scoreboard after Round 1 Set 1, currently totalling 79 points and 16 kills. His less stellar performance in Set 2 opened the door for others to close the gap, as grt claims 3rd place with 78 points and 14 kills, morleyjoe clinches 4th place with 76.5 points and 13 kills, while b00060 rounds out the top 5 with 74.5 points and 14 kills.

Elsewhere on the scoreboard, Mishalex left CC despite finishing 11th for the round, which opened the door for YouOnKazoo to squeeze through to Round 2, with 24 points and 5 kills being the score to beat.

Also, special mention goes out to general cod and Enormastitz, who both qualified for Round 2 despite not getting on the scoreboard in Round 1 Set 1. In particular, general cod managed to rack up 60.5 points and 11 kills in Set 2 alone, giving him a 7th-place finish for the round. It really goes to show that anything can happen here.


As we move to Round 2, point totals for Round 1 have been halved, giving a chance for those who are behind to catch up and steal a top 5 spot at the end of the round. Everyone has their work cut out for them though. Good luck!

Update

Games for Round 2 Set 2 have been sent out, and we are just over halfway through the round with 17 out of 32 games in the round being completed so far.

Set 1 was a competitive set across the board, as most players struggled to make kills on their home ground. ESQuire lost his streak of perfect runs on home ground, but quickly recovered in Set 2 to take one of the first wins of the set on his home ground again. He continues to lead the pack with 110 points and 26 kills, keeping up the strong performance showed in Round 1.

His lead has been slashed, however, with grt closing in with 104 points and 25 kills, rising from 3rd- to 2nd-place as a result of the a clean sweep on his home ground in Round 2 Set 1. The top of the leaderboard continues to remain fairly static, with just some reshuffling among the top 5. morleyjoe rises to 3rd with 80.25 points and 20 kills, TX AG 90 falls to 4th with 64.5 points and 22 kills, and b00060 holds on to 5th with 59.75 points and 17 kills.

Their places in the final aren't secure though, with many competitors such as Kevi, overlander, and general cod nipping at their heels, and many others still within striking distance.

Update

The last game of Round 2 still plods on, but the finals have started as the top 5 are locked in. The previous set led to a shakeup of the leaderboard and the qualifying players, so let's dive into it!

A new leader crowns the leaderboard, as grt takes over pole position with 153 points and 33 kills. His score is buoyed by the clean sweeps on both his home games in Round 2; but his performance is so strong that he would've maintained his lead even without one of those home ground wins.

He holds a 34 point lead over the 2nd-place competitor, overlander, who made a stellar leap from 7th to 2nd-place. This improvement comes as a result of managing to snag at least 1 kill in each of his games in Round 2 Set 2, along with a clean sweep on his home map, to give him 119 points and 28 kills. Our previous leader, ESQuire, falls to 3rd, but remains close behind with 118 points and 28 kills.

morleyjoe manages to stay within the top 5 despite falling to 4th with 90.25 points and 22 kills, while general cod slips in to clinch the last coveted spot in the finals with 82.25 points and 22 kills, with a clean sweep in one of his games being enough to take him from 8th to 5th.

Just outside of that, Kevi falls just short despite maintaining his position in 6th-place, while TX AG 90 and b00060 fizzle out of the top 5 after being unable to find their footing in their last set of games.

The point totals have been halved yet again as we move to the final round, closing the gaps between players once again. In the finals, each player only has their home ground advantage once out of 10 games, so it's make or break in those games. It's going to be an all-out brawl in all the other games, with a random selection of 5 previous home settings being used for gameplay. Good luck!

All games of the finals have been sent out, and 4 ongoing games remain for the tournament.

The finals have been thrilling thus far, with large movement on the scoreboard as the point totals for the Finals alone are almost the inverse of the standings coming into the Finals.

general cod has taken a lion's share of the points so far, with the 59 points for the Finals taking him up to 1st place with 101.125 points and 33 kills. This is a magnificent feat, managing to jump up from 5th place to the top despite the large lead that grt initially held going into the finals. A large part of the success so far is due to him being the only player with a clean sweep in any game in the finals so far, and the only player to have made 3 kills or more in the same game so far.

grt is not too far behind though, sliding down to 2nd place with 89.5 points and 36 kills. It's been a rough start to the round as he's only amassed 13 points and 3 kills so far, but there's still time to make up for that. His strong performance in Round 2 definitely keeps him as a strong contender for the crown.

ESQuire and morleyjoe maintain their positions at 3rd and 4th respectively; while overlander falls from 2nd to 5th after struggling to make a mark on any of the games so far.

Notably, none of the players managed to secure a clean sweep on their home map this time, although 3 players still managed to secure 2 kills there to get some points.

It's still possible for any player to pull out a win at the moment, so it'll be a close race to watch!

Update

The dust settles on the arena, as the last game of the tournament games to a close. The story of the finals has been an unpredictable and compelling one indeed, with large upsets in the standings - which we shall now get into.

In the second set of the finals, general cod continued his domination of the field, racking up 6 of the 16 kills en route to taking home the tournament win with 115.125 points and 36 kills. This remarkable performance in the finals puts him 24 points above the nearest competitor, which means that it would've taken more than a clean sweep in a game to catch up with him.

His performance is even more astounding, considering the fact that in the first two rounds of the tournament, he never accumulated more points in a round compared to the other finalists, apart from morleyjoe in Round 2. Moreover, entering the finals in 5th-place, he had a 35 point gap to make up for in order to make it to the top. His performance over the rounds has certainly been filled with clutch performances, such as in Round 1 where he scored all his points in Set 2 after coming up empty in Set 1; as well as in Round 2 where a clean sweep of a game in Set 2 gave him the points he needed to slip into the last spot of the finals.

As this is a TPA7 tournament, that is not the full story, of course, as the other placings matter as well.

Elsewhere on the scoreboard, morleyjoe snuck into 2nd place from 4th, based on the final game that ended with a round limit. This gave him the 4 points he needed to edge out 3rd-place finisher ESQuire by just 0.125 points. morleyjoe finished the tournament with 91.125 points and 31 kills, representing yet another upset after ending Round 2 in 4th, but now finishing in 2nd.

The point difference between the 2nd- to 4th-placed finishers is a mere 1.625 points, showing just how tight the race was. ESquire held his 3rd-place position with 91 points and 34 kills; while grt and overlander fell from 1st and 2nd to 4th and 5th respectively, after both struggled to find their footing throughout the finals.

It's a remarkable feat to have made it to the finals nevertheless, and all players should be proud of themselves!
