This is a Tournament Players Association Year 4 [TPA4] event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments which are detailed here: viewtopic.php?f=89&t=195573#p4278332
All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You do not need to do anything more than join one or more of the TPA4 events that will be announced on Mondays. Check back on the scoreboard to see how you're doing:
Ladies and gentlemen of Conquer Club, I bring you America's Game:
If you have never seen the show, you can read all about how it works here.
Players will be divided into groups of 4.
NO TWO GROUPS WILL HAVE THE SAME PUZZLE, but all groups will have the same category and all puzzles will be CC-related.
The rules have been changed for Round 2 and onward in hopes of speeding up the tournament. From Round 2 on (red text indicates changes):
Group order from the previous round will determine who starts the first round (winner of Round 1 Game A will start Round 2 Game A, winner of Round 2 Game E will start Round 2 Game B, etc.)
If you choose to SPIN, you must PM me your choice of map and settings (ALL games will be standard and have a 20-round limit, and all other settings not specified will be CC defaults).
When the game ends, a dollar value will be chosen at random based on how well you do in the game (winning a game makes you more likely to land on the $2500 wedge, being eliminated first makes you more likely to land on the dreaded Bankrupt) and let you know what dollar value has been chosen and what your group's puzzle looks like at that moment.
You reply to that PM to guess a consonant.
If the consonant is in the puzzle, you will get that dollar value multiplied by the number of times the letter appears, and it is your turn again - however, if you choose to spin, you will not have to play another game. Instead, a dollar amount will be randomly chosen from the 24 possible amounts on the wheel.
If the consonant is not in the puzzle, it is the next player's turn.
If you have more than $250, you can choose to BUY A VOWEL.
To do so, you must PM me the vowel you wish to buy.
If the vowel is in the puzzle, you will lose $250, but it will remain your turn - however, if you choose to spin, you will not have to play another game. Instead, a dollar amount will be randomly chosen from the 24 possible amounts on the wheel..
If the vowel is not in the puzzle, it is the next player's turn.
Every time a letter is added to a group's puzzle, I will PM the puzzle with the newly-added letter to all players in the group.
If you choose to try to SOLVE THE PUZZLE, you must PM me what you think the answer is.
If you guess correctly, you (and only you) get to keep all the money you earned in that round, and you will start the next round.
If you do not guess correctly, it is the next player's turn.
All guesses - correct or incorrect - will be PMed to all players in your group.
Each game will have 3 rounds:
Round 1: Normal Play with a top prize of $2,500.
Round 2: The Mystery Round - top prize of $3,500. 2 $1,000 Mystery Wedges are placed on the Wheel - one of which has $10,000 on its other side, but the other has a Bankrupt. If a player lands on the Mystery Wedge and guesses a letter that is in the puzzle, they can either accept $1,000 for every time the letter appears in the puzzle or flip the wedge over and hope to find the $10,000. Once one Mystery Wedge has been flipped over, it is removed from the wheel and the other becomes a regular $1,000 space and cannot be flipped over.
Round 3: The Jackpot Round - top prize of $3,500. The Jackpot starts at $5,000. Every time a player lands on a wedge with a dollar value, that dollar value is added to the Jackpot (even if the player guesses incorrectly). If a player lands on the Jackpot wedge, they must guess a letter. If the letter is not in the puzzle, play passes to the next player. If the letter is in the puzzle, the player has the option to spin again or solve for the Jackpot. If the player chooses to solve and guesses incorrectly, play passes to the next player. But, if the player chooses to solve and guesses correctly, the player wins the Jackpot.
Only the player who correctly solves the puzzle gets to keep the money they have earned in that game round.
At the end of Round 3, the player with the most money wins the game and advances to the next round of the tournament.
Winnings do not carry over from one round of the tournament to the next, but cumulative winnings will be used as the final tiebreaker for TPA ranking purposes.
If you miss 3 invites for a game in this tournament, you will be removed and replaced with a reserve.
(Note: 1 declined invite = 2 missed invites).
If you write to me PROMPTLY explaining why you missed/declined the invites (i.e. "I clicked 'decline' by accident" or "I was away for the weekend and just got back"), I may be able to be a bit lenient.
Tournament flow:
Round of 96: 24 4-player games, 1 player advancing from each
Round of 24: 6 4-player games, 1 player advancing from each
Final Round: 1 6-player game.
In addition, the player who wins the most money over the course of the tournament will be awarded a General Achievement Medal!
If you have any questions, just ask!
Now let's have some fun!
