Four Mags Two! [W=Team 3]
Posted: Tue Dec 27, 2016 7:50 am
This is a replay of Our World at Four Magnifications which was originally played in 2013 and was my first tournament with the (then) new 12-player update!
You try to conquer the world at four different magnifications: World 2.1, Land and Sea, Classic, and Doodles.
Tournament type: Mixed.
(regular rounds are Standard; Final games will be Quads)
Game Settings: All games Automatic, Sequential, 24-hour, Escalating, Chained, No Fog, No Trench, with a 50-round limit.
36 players will be randomly divided into 3 groups. Freemiums are allowed, but must reserve at least one game slot for the duration of the tournament, and may be replaced without notice if they fail to do so.
Round 1
Each group will play one 12-player Standard game on the World 2.1 map. The winner advances to the finals; the other 11 players continue to round 2.
Round 2
Each group will play one 11-player Standard game on the Land and Sea map. The winner advances to the finals; the other 10 players continue to round 3.
Round 3
Each group will play one 10-player Standard game on the Classic map. The winner advances to the finals; the other 9 players continue to round 4.
Round 4
Each group will play one 9-player Standard game on the Doodle Earth map. The winner advances to the finals; the other 8 players are eliminated and will despondently slink away.
Finals
The four winners in each group will form a Quads team. The player who won the World 2.1 game will be considered Team captain, and in the unlikely event that there are any necessary discussions (choosing a team for the tiebreaker as below, or replacement of banned players, for instance) he will speak for his team.
The three Quads teams will play a 3-game series on the first three maps. (2.1, L&S, and Classic.) If any freemium makes it to this stage and does not have 3 slots available, we can play these three games 1 or 2 at a time.
If any team wins 2 or more games in the Final, they will be crowned tournament champions!
Tiebreaker
If there is a tie (all three teams win 1 game each) there will be a tiebreaker game on the Doodle Earth map. Because this map only allows 9 players, it will be a Trips game, and the Team captain will decide which of the players in his Quads team should sit out. All four players on the team will still be considered champions, even those who did not play in the tiebreaker.
This is my 140th!
