99s Stealthy TIC-TAC-TOE - Poly 2 **THE LAST OF JUST 4 MAJORS IN THE ANNUAL TPA SCHEDULE** BRIEF HIGHLIGHTS If you are not into all the fluff or don't have time, then all you have to do to win this tournament, is win your games. It isn't necessary you know or follow these rules. There are no decisions to make and nothing that you have to do other than accept your invites and win your games. I do the rest. Having said that........ It is set up for 50 Players. I can however, accept more or less, in multiples of 10. I am hoping to start by June 20th. I won't turn anyone away who signs up prior to midnight June 15, 2015. Due to Poly games and the game load, only Premium players qualify. The tournament has a unique scoring structure. It consists of 3 games of TIC-TAC-TOE. Each TIC-TAC-TOE game consists of 9 Poly 2 Games. These 9 games are sent evenly over 3 rounds. The entire tournament is played over 9 rounds. As this is a TPA event, we will not have a fog rule but please be respectful and make attempts to work it out with your opponent. No advantage will be gained from missing an invite in this regard (see missed invites penalties). SETTINGS show
All games are: - Poly 2 - Random Map - No Trench - stealthy = Foggy ...duh! - Automatic - Sequential - 20 Rounds to keep things moving. TIC-TAC-TOE Game 1 will be Flat Rate and Parachute (rounds 1-3 of the tournament). TIC-TAC-TOE Game 2 will be Escalating and Adjacent (rounds 4-6 of the tournament). TIC-TAC-TOE Game 3 will be No Spoils and Chained (rounds 7-9 of the tournament).
FORMAT show
For the first game of TIC-TAC-TOE, players are randomly divided into 6 groups of 10. You will play a full round robin against your group, consisting of 9 games in total. Each of those games will represent one of the 9 blocks in your personal TIC-TAC-TOE game grid; labeled from A1 to C3. Win the game you get a "W" in that block. Lose and you get a "L" . Additionally, each game you play represents one square in your opponent's grid. When you win, your opponent records an "L" in the appropriate block on his grid, which contributes to a "LOSS" Line on his grid. Straight lines are your goal. Enemy Straight Lines in your grid, count against your score. Avoid those! Games will be sent 3 at a time. I will wait about 10 days between sets so your next three games may arrive prior to the first 3 games finishing. Each of the 9 games you receive, will represent one of those squares in your grid. The games will be clearly labelled. Round 1 - 3 Games - A1, A2 & B1 Round 2 - 3 Games - B3, C2 & C3 Round 3 - 3 Games - A3, B2 & C1 Then the Game of TIC-TAC-TOE is complete. Each of the 3 Games of TIC-TAC-TOE in this tournament will follow this identical format. The Groups for Games 2 and 3 will be seeded by Tournament Score.
SCORING show
There are no score resets in this tournament. You retain your scores and add to them as you go. The point values are increased for later rounds to keep everyone in the tournament, but not so much as to make early scores insignificant. STRAIGHT LINES VALUES TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 1 1st Straight Line = 3 Points 2nd Straight Line = 1.5 Points 3rd Straight Line = 1 Point Additional Straight Lines = 0.5 Points Each First Enemy Straight Line = -1.5 Points (Lose 1 1/2 Points) Additional Enemy Straight Lines = -0.5 Points (lose 1/2 a point) Max Lines = 8 Max Score = 8 Top 40 scores advance to TIC-TAC-TOE Game 2. STRAIGHT LINES VALUES TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 2 1st Straight Line = 5 Points 2nd Straight Line = 3 Points 3rd Straight Line = 2 Point Additional Straight Lines = 1 Point Each First Enemy Straight Line = -3 Points (Lose 3 Points) Additional Enemy Straight Lines = -1 Points (Lose 1 Point) Max Lines = 8 Max Score = 15 Scores from TIC-TAC-TOE Games 1 and 2 are combined to form your Tournament Score. Top 20 Tournament Scores advance to TIC-TAC-TOE Game 3. STRAIGHT LINES VALUES TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 3 1st Straight Line = 8 Points 2nd Straight Line = 5 Points 3rd Straight Line = 2.5 Points Additional Straight Lines = 1.5 Point Each First Enemy Straight Line = -7 Points (Lose 7 Points) Additional Enemy Straight Lines = -3 Points (Lose 3 Points) Max Lines = 8 Max Score = 23 Scores from all 3 Games of TIC-TAC-TOE are combined for a total Tournament Score. You can go below zero. Highest score wins the tournament. See below for updated Player Scores under Results/Player Scores
TIE BREAKER RULES show
TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 1 - Ties in player scores will be settled by total game wins out of the 9 played. If a tie remains, we will revert back to tournament scores and first discount scores for Enemy Straight Lines, then discount scores for Additional Straight Lines. If there is still a tie, I will add the Tournament Scores of all 9 competitors each of the tied players faced. Whoever faced the toughest competition will win. TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 2 - Ties in player scores will be settled by total game wins out of the 18 played. If a tie remains, we will revert back to tournament scores and first discount Game 1 scores. Should a tie remain, we will then discount any scores for Enemy Straight Lines, then discount scores for Additional Straight Lines. If there is still a tie, I will add the Tournament Scores of all 9 competitors each of the tied players faced in Game 2. Whoever faced the toughest competition will win. TIC-TAC-TOE GAME 3 - We came to compete so compete we shall. Should there be a tie for 1st place, we will settle it through competition. All players tied for first place will play single 1v1 games on the Classic Map with Standard settings. If there are only 2 players tied, then just one game will be required. If more than two players are tied I may have to seed the players first and create a small bracket. If necessary and i don''t shoot myself first, I will seed tied players by first discounting TIC-TAC-TOE Game 1 Scores. Then if a tie remains, I will discount Game 2 Scores. If there is still a tie, I will then consider total game wins in the tournament.
MISSED INVITES show
My only goal is to ensure that no advantage is gained by a player missing an invite, whether intentional or not . I am personally in favor of being respectful to people who have busy lives and miss invites. They are mostly unintentional. But I am adamantly opposed to an advantage that is often acquired when invites are missed in fog games that do not have a 12 hour fog rule. To compensate for this, I am imposing a Missed Invite Penalty for the very first missed invitation. The penalty only applies if you play first in the games in question. If you do play first, you will ensure your opponent gets a chance to see the opening map or you will post in the game chat exactly what your opponent could see prior to you attacking him. No time limit applies; just ensure the info is exchanged please. (FYI - Most competitive players play this way as a courtesy, including Yours Truly. It isn't much of a penalty and is not intended to be punitive in any way). Penalty for messing up the above penalty is default from the affected games. If there are no issues about having to exchange info, then I'm happy to resend invites (without a maximum number) where players still wish to play. Stuff happens. If I have no communication over 2-3 days, the games will be reluctantly defaulted.

TPA 5 RANKINGS show
TPA rankings will be based on the tournament scores. The TPA has a process to award TPA Points evenly to tied players so it doesn’t make sense for me to attempt to break ties here using an arbitrary method. Only ties for first place will be broken by me. After that, players will be listed in order of score with no concern given to separating tied players. As players finish the tournament, they will be listed below, ranked by Tournament Score. Rank:
