This is a Tournament Players Association Year 5 [TPA5] event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments which are detailed here: viewtopic.php?f=89&t=207126
All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You do not need to do anything more than join one or more of the TPA5 events that will be announced on Mondays. Check back on the scoreboard to see how you're doing:
Welcome to the first Major tournament of the TPA5 season!
This tournament will have 10 rounds.
There will be no eliminations in this tournament, so each player will play all 10 rounds.
In each round, each player will play 3 10-player games - 1 standard, 1 terminator, and 1 assassin.
Players will be put into games randomly.
Maps used for each round have been chosen to commemorate an event from each of the past 10 years ending in 4, except this year - 1914, 1924,...,1994, 2004 - as follows:
Round - Year - Map - Event
Round 1 - 1914 - Europe 1914 - Start of World War I
Round 2 - 1924 - Soviet Union - Death of V. I. Lenin, Stalin takes command of USSR
Round 3 - 1934 - Philippines - Establishment of Philippine Commonwealth
Round 4 - 1944 - D-Day: Omaha Beach! - Allied Invasion of the Beaches at Normandy during World War II
Round 5 - 1954 - Indochina - End of French involvement in Vietnam
Round 6 - 1964 - England - The Beatles come to the US for the first time
Round 7 - 1974 - Canada - Canadian prog-rock trio Rush (my favorite band ever) release debut album
Round 8 - 1984 - Hong Kong - Britain agrees to return Hong Kong to China in 1997
Round 9 - 1994 - NYC - NHL's New York Rangers win Stanley Cup for first time in 54 years
Round 10 - 2004 - Battle for Iraq! - US-led coalition transfers Iraqi sovereignty to an Iraqi Interim Government
All games will be played on CC's default settings, but with fog (no trench) and a 30-round limit.
Scoring:
Standard games: 10 points for 1st place, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd,...2 for 9th, 1 for 10th
Terminator games: 1 point per kill (you must conquer the player's last territory to get the point) plus an extra point for winning the game
Assassin games: 10 points for winning by eliminating your target, 5 points for winning by any other means (including round limit or someone else eliminating your target), 2 points for surviving to the end (but not winning), 0 points for being assassinated or kicked, and -5 points for eliminating another player's target.
As is always the case with my tournaments, if you let 3 invites expire in any one round, you will be removed and replaced.
A declined invite counts as 2 expired invites.
Of course, I won't hold it against you if you click the wrong link by accident or can't get to your computer on a given day - unless you don't tell me that and just assume I know - believe it or not, I'm not psychic (yet).
I believe I have made everything clear, but if you still have questions, ask away.
